Student Leaders on Women’s Leadership 2016

The U.S. Embassy is seeking applicants for the 2016 Study of the United States Institutes for Student Leaders on Women’s Leadership.  This Institute is a four-week academic program entitled “Educating Tomorrow’s Global Women Leaders.” It will examine the history and participation of women in public life in the United States.  The coursework will focus on two major areas:  Developing participants’ leadership skills and enhanced sense of self-efficacy and aspiration by focusing on areas such as critical thinking, communication, decision-making, and managerial abilities and placing these abilities in the context of the history and participation of women in U.S. politics, economics, culture, and society.

Topics may include:

  • U.S. women’s history
  • Women’s economic empowerment
  • Global women’s movements
  • U.S. public institutions such as health, legal and education systems
  • Women’s leadership and intercultural skill development

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates should be undergraduate students or have at least one semester left of their undergraduate studies and be between 18 and 25 years of age, who demonstrate active involvement in civil society and advocacy for Women’s Rights.  

Applicants should be proficient in English and should have a sustained high level of academic achievement, as indicated by grades, awards, and teacher recommendations.
