Organizational context

The Registration Associate is a member of the UNHCR Field Office Zarzis and is supervised by the Associate Protection Officer. The Registration Associate is responsible for supporting all activities related to registration for Southern Tunisia, which include functions related to reception, filing and data management. The Registration Associate contributes to ensure that registration is effectively used for the identification of specific protection needs, for the management of operations, and for the achievement of durable solutions.
The Registration Associate is based at UNHCR Field Office in Zarzis, with regular movements to field locations in Southern Tunisia.

Accountability

  • UNHCR’s Tunisia Registration Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other relevant UNHCR standards and policies are implemented.
  • Persons of concern have fair and transparent access to registration procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure adequate reception of potential persons of concern, and provide them with information on UNHCR’s registration procedures;
  • Conduct preregistration and registration interviews with potential persons of concern at the UNHCR Field Office or in field locations, as required;
  • Conduct interviews in order to verify family relationships;
  • Identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral to protection follow-up as required;
  • Ensure timely data entry and maintain accurate and up-to date records and data related to all registration cases;
  • Participate in verification exercises when required, through home/field visits to persons of concern, interviews and data entry;
  • Conduct biometric registration for all newly registered cases;
  • Ensure the issuance and monitoring of UNHCR cards/certificates;
  • Provide statistics and draft reports related to registration data, as requested;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Degree in Law, Social Sciences, International Relations, Statistics, Information Technology or other related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Previous experience in the humanitarian sector, in particular in field locations, will be an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility and ability to deal with sensitive information. Demonstrated computer skills, particularly in data management.
  • Fluency in both verbal and written Arabic and English is required. Proficiency in French desirable.
