Call for Applications: ACT 2015 Phase 3  – Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regional advocacy workshop!

 

ACT 2015 is a youth mobilization initiative led by the PACT, a coalition of 25 youth organizations, in partnership with UNAIDS.

ACT 2015 aims to secure a post 2015 development framework that integrates and advances sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and the HIV response. ACT 2015 is part of UNAIDS corporate post 2015 strategy to generate public opinion, support and pressure for HIV and SRHR related goals and targets.  

 

In support of this critical initiative, UNAIDS RST MENA is hosting the ACT 2015 phase 3 regional workshop on the training of the trainers for the Advocacy strategy toolkit (developed in Phase 2) which will be held in English, in Cairo for the scheduled dates 24 February 2015.

 

Criteria for selection of the organization are as follows:

(1) Demonstrated experience in the area of HIV and SRHR

(2) Demonstrated experience or interest in national level advocacy and lobbying

(3) Demonstrated experience in working and coordinating with other youth organizations

(4) Youth-led or youth serving

(5) Working with young key populations (young people who inject drugs, young people involved in selling sex; young men who have sex with men; young transgender people, youth people living with HIV) is a strong plus.

 

Criteria for selection of the nominated young leader to attend on behalf of the organization:

  1. 18-29 years old
  2. Proficiency in English;
  3. Previous experience or strong interest in national level advocacy;
  4. Knowledge in sexual and reproductive health and rights and HIV for young people;
  5. Good speaking and writing skills;
  6. Interest in understanding the post-2015 process;
  7. Ability to deliver on tight deadlines.

 

Selected candidates will receive necessary skills in advocacy to lead the national ACT-2015 initiative together with their organizations and local partners. Upon return, the candidate will be requested to present an overview and outcomes of the workshop to their organization, discuss next steps for involvement in phase three of ACT 2015 and beyond and report back to the ACT 2015 team within the period of 2 month on actions to be taken by the organization

 

MENA countries: Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE, West Bank and Gaza and Yemen
