Context
The UNDP Tunisia Country Office is designed for highly qualified and motivated young professionals. The programme provides an opportunity to start a development career through “on the job’ professional development that can be based on learning from UNDP’s programmes, policies, and operations. Training and learning will be part of the day-to-day activities under the UNDP CO. This UNV assignment is part of UNDP initiative leader of the operations service Information and Communication Technologies in the UN House, the ICT Support Assistant provides the first level ICT support services for the UN agencies and assist the ICT Associate of UNDP Tunisia to achieve the goals of the Information and Communication Technologies.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of ICT Associate of UNDP Tunisia, the National UN Youth Volunteer will:
A) Supports implementation of ICT management systems and strategies, focusing on achievement of the following results:
• Compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines and procedures for the CO technology environment.
• Support to the use of new ERP Quantum (UNDP’s implementation of Quantum) functionality for improved business results and improved client services.
• Provision of inputs to the CO administrative business processes mapping and implementation of the internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Assist the ICT Associate for the implementation of the Global ICT projects (UNall, MS Intune, Quantum, etc.)
B) Ensures effective functioning of the CO hardware and software, focusing on the achievement of the following results:
• Assist the ICT Associate for the installation of the equipment (Laptops, Printers, Scanner, Conference System, UPS, Switch, Servers, Routers, Firewall, etc.)
• Assist the ICT Associate for the managing Visio conference System (Polycom Group 700 and Poly X50, etc.) in the meetings rooms in the UN House
• Assist the users from UN Agencies for the meetings (Zoom, MS Teams, WebEx, etc.) in the meetings rooms in the UN House
• Assist the ICT Associate to support the users in using Microsoft Office 365 (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, Microsoft Teams) and others new platforms (SharePoint Online, UNall, OneDrive etc.)
C) Supports networks administration, focusing on achievement of the following results:
• Assist the ICT Associate for the troubleshooting and monitoring of network problems in the UN House
• Assist the ICT Associate for the monitoring of the infrastructure (Network, Security, internet connectivity).
D) Provides administrative support, focusing on achievement of the following results:
• Maintenance of an up-to-date inventory of software and hardware of UNDP.
• Maintenance of the inventory and stock of supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the Procurement Unit.
• Provision of ICT support to key events.
E) Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the CO, focusing on achievement of the following results:
• Participation and assistance in the organization of training for the CO staff on ICT issues.
• Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
• Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:
• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day);
• Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country;
• Provide annual and end of assignment self- reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
• Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers;
• Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.
