Un/e coordinateur/trice Local/e -Projet de l’Union européenne « MIL4Peace »

Introduction

Deutsche Welle Akademie (DWA) in the framework of the project “MIL4Peace”, funded by the European Union, is looking to engage a Local Coordinator for Tunisia to advise and coordinate project activities in Tunisia. 

The project “MIL4Peace” seeks to promote stability and peace by strengthening the ability of civil society in Lebanon, Libya, and Tunisia to engage youth in conflict prevention and peacebuilding efforts. The focus is on empowering youth-led organizations with tools and methods in Media and Information Literacy (MIL) to encourage inclusive youth participation in peacebuilding processes, particularly in the digital space.

The position will last for 30month, starting from 10th March 2025 with an average of 40% of working time (equivalent to a maximum of 220 days for the total duration of the action). The DW Akademie  Project Coordinator will be based at the DW Akademie Office (40% presence). 

Scope of work

This position will report directly to the DWA Head Office in Germany. The responsibilities include:

    • Collaborating with the DWA MIL Consultant to identify and select local MIL trainers in Tunisia.
    • Contributing to the mapping of youth-led civil society organizations, with a strong focus on promoting peace and stability in Tunisia.
    • Establishing strong partnerships and fostering exchange with identified civil society organizations.
    • Introducing the project to key stakeholders, including ministries, local authorities, and existing local networks.
    • Designing and coordinating online workshops in collaboration with selected Tunisian civil society organizations.
    • Developing, selecting, and organizing a minimum of two grants (Financial Support to Third Parties) for civil society organizations to implement MIL4Peace Boot Camps, engaging at least 60 youth representatives.
    • Collecting financial reports and supporting documentation from grant recipients.
    • Preparing status reports for submission to the DWA Head Office.
    • Maintaining regular communication and exchanges with national coordinators in Lebanon and Libya.
    • Gathering data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Managing contact with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in media studies, communication, project management or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in working with civil society organisations and media representatives in the MENA region in political sensitive contexts. 
  • More than three years’ experience in organizing online and offline trainings and workshops for CSOs and/or media representatives.
  • Proven experience in managing small-scale grant projects for local civil society organizations.
  • Arabic speaking and writing skills (native) as well as English (fluent in speaking and writing).
  • Ability to interact in an intercultural team.
  • Willingness to travel within Tunisia. 
  • Experience in working for an international organization, such as DW Akademie, would be an asset. 

Place of Assignment

Home-based with office presence in Tunisia.  

Renumeration and payment

Rate of payment agreed upon selection. Please submit your signed offer in PDF form for the desired daily rate along with your updated CV. 

Payment will be upon submissions of invoice and timesheet. The payment will be made in EUR via bank transfer. Office stationary are not covered.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Master’s degree in media studies, communication, project management or equivalent Minimum of three years’ experience in working with civil society organisations and media representatives in the MENA region in political sensitive contexts.
