The Heinrich Böll Foundation (hbs) is a publicly funded German non-profit organization serving as a catalyst for green ideas and initiatives, a think tank for policy reform, and part of an international network. Project Assistant to Program Coordinator (Trainee)

We are seeking a highly motivated trainee with a strong interest in democracy, human rights, and gender equality for a 6-month internship. The ideal candidate is collaborative, well-organized, and skilled in administrative and financial project support. Working under the direct supervision of the Senior Program Coordinator, the trainee will assist in the day-to-day implementation of HBS projects in the Gender Democracy and Human Rights program. This position is based in Tunis, with occasional travel and collaboration with civil society organizations and other stakeholders across Tunisia.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for the logistical planning, contracting, and implementation of program activities and cooperation projects.
  • Assist in preparing, documenting, and reporting on program activities, including drafting reports, summaries, and other relevant documents.
  • Support the Program Coordinator with financial tasks, including preparing financial reports for cooperation partners and assisting with accounting for internal program activities.
  • Monitor and attend partner activities, manage related documentation, apply monitoring tools, and prepare minutes, memos, and briefings.
  • Collect and compile data for program monitoring and evaluation (e.g., press clippings, social media analysis).
  • Coordinate logistical aspects of internal and public events, including material preparation, liaising with participants, booking venues, and budget tracking.
  • Support communication and coordination with national and international stakeholders, as directed.
  • Promote program activities through HBS communication channels, including social media and the website.
  • Assist in budget preparation, review, and adjustment in line with HBS internal regulations.
  • Uphold and embody the values of gender democracy and human rights in all aspects of the role.

Candidate Profile

  • Tunisian citizenship
  • University degree in social or political sciences or a related field.
  • At least 1 years of relevant experience in project assistance or coordination within an international organization, NGO, or the private sector (this includes volunteer work in civil society and previous internships)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong familiarity with social media tools.
  • Fluency in Arabic, French, and English; knowledge of German is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills and sensitivity to political and social issues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.

Terms of Employment

  • Contract type: Fixed-term, 6-month internship contract (Stage).
  • Training period: September 2025 – February 2026.
  • Employment conditions: In accordance with Tunisian labor law.
