Background

TADAEEM project is implementing USAID’s Tunisia Accountability, Decentralization and Effective Municipalities. This 4-year governance project aims to help the Government of Tunisia decentralize governance to the institutions closest to its citizenry and continue to strengthen its nascent democracy. The project will work to enhance citizen participation in the process of governance as well as the government’s capacity to deliver the services that citizens prioritize. The project team will work in 11 provinces, 31 adjacent municipalities, and with the central government in Tunis to ultimately strengthen the ecosystem of stakeholders and institutions across the country.

Objectives

The Regional TADAEEM Translator will provide Arabic-English-French translation and interpretation services to the project regional hub (Gabes, Kairouan, Tozeur, Kef)and counterparts in support of project objectives and deliverables as outlined by project leadership.

Specific Tasks and Deliverables

The Regional TADAEEM Translator will undertake the following tasks:

Oral Translation:

• Translation from Arabic to English and vice versa;
• Translation from French to English and vice versa;
• Whisper/cosecutive/real-time translation during meetings, conferences; and
• Responsible for providing good quality translation to all project and counterpart staff engaged in dialogue.

Written Translation:

• Translation of TADAEEM and counterpart documents such as regulations/ legislation, technical procedure manuals, training presentations, letters, emails, etc. from Arabic/French/English and vice versa;
• Responsible for providing high quality translations within specified deadlines; and
• Other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Reporting Requirements:

The Regional Translator will report to the Regional Manager.
