Ifrikya Center for Common Ground (ICCG) is a Tunisian peacebuilding NGO that aims to promote sustainable social cohesion in North African societies through conflict transformation. It is a newly established Tunisian organization that builds on the legacy and experience of the international peacebuilding NGO Search for Common Ground in Tunisia. 

Ifrikya Center for Common Ground (ICCG)  in Tunisia :

 

ICCG’s strategy for Tunisia includes the promotion of the culture of dialogue and diversity through the involvement of all parts of society while building their capacities. ICCG works in Tunisia to help members of Tunisian society to address conflicts and differences constructively through cooperation and dialogue. ICCG works across multiple channels, mainly with youth, CSOs, media actors, and local authorities to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to address challenges including differences and act on common points. ICCG’s main strategic objectives include: (i) promoting peace education; (ii) fostering non-violent social dialogue; (iii) enhancing participatory and inclusive governance; and (iv) transforming violent extremism.

ICCG is currently recruiting for the position of Subgrants Assistant , in the framework of our project ‘’Nos Racines ’’. The project first objective is to increase the resilience of groups at risk, in particular young people and women, to factors leading to violent extremism (VE) through an integrated approach in the regions of Gafsa, Kairouan, Bizerte, Medenine, Jandouba and Greater Tunis. The project also aims to Promote a more peaceful social environment by strengthening the capacities of institutional actors in the field of PVE. 

Your contribution

 

The Sub-Grants Assistant will be responsible for back-stopping implementation of this project and will directly support the Senior Project Manager  through  leading  and implementing community activities and helping the local grantees. The position will report primarily to the Senior Project Manager, as well as to the Executive Director. 

 

The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist Senior Project Manager to:

 

  • Analyze grantees  main activities in the targeted geographical areas;
  • Providing technical support and guidance for local CSO’s when required.
  • Provide expertise, mentor and coach sub-grantees to ensure quality implementation
  • Ensure that the program is complying with ICCG  procedures on subgrant management, including ensuring all relevant information is updated in ICCG  financial system.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of sub-grant budgets and budget narratives for completeness, cost eligibility and compliance with subgrant requirements.
  • Financially review and process (with authorisations) subgrantee payments and reconcile subgrant financial tracking to general ledger reports.
  • Liaise between the external accounting and the subgrantees to ensure costs eligibility and compliance with the donor and the tunisian law.
  • Follow up regularly with the grantees and assist in the implementation of the activities.
  • Conduct workshops and training events as required;
  • Report on a regular basis to Senior Project Manager  on the subgrantees implementation advancement
  • Support ICCG  program development (work plan, strategies, success stories, newsletters, regular report, etc.);

You are…

You meet the following qualifications:

Education

  • Current or recent graduate in International relations, Human & social sciences, conflict or security studies, or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred

 

Professional Experience

  • 1 to 2 years of professional experience in a similar position with a national or international non-governmental organization or similar experience in a non-profit organization;
  • Experience in civil society organization;
  • Strong understanding of political and social context in Tunisia 
  • Willingness to regularly travel on short notice around the country.
  • Computer proficiency
  • Excellent written and oral French and Arabic  language (english is a plus).

 

Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent coordination, communication (verbal and written) and networking skills;
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, often challenging environment with minimal supervision;
  • Ability to work through stringent deadlines with attention to detail, and coordinate and compile information from various sources;
  • Demonstrated experience working with local partners.
  • Ability to work with people at all levels, ranging from high-level officials to community leaders
  • Strong ability to multi-task and work independently;
  • Flexibility and capacity to adapt to evolving contexts; and
  • Team spirit and ability to collaborate with colleagues in an open and constructive way.
