Médecins Sans Frontières is hiring Staff-care consultant (part time flying position) for overseas assignments:

 

Médecins Sans Frontières is an international, medical humanitarian organization working in more than 71 countries around the world. Our medical teams act fast to save people’s lives in conflict zones, natural disasters, and epidemics. We go where we are needed most.

Providing MSF with an understanding of local, socio-cultural determinants. Supporting beneficiaries with basic information regarding access to medical treatment, transportation, and other actors (legal, social, etc) following MSF’s protocols, standards and procedures, in order to create links with the communities and contribute to the visibility an acceptance of MSF.

Report to (hierarchical): Psychosocial Support Unit Coordinator

Report to (functional): MENA staff-care unit

Department: Psychosocial Support Unit

Area: MENA region: Libya/Tunisia/Algeria

  • Main purpose

The staff-care consultant is in charge of providing psychosocial support to MSF field teams in the MENA (Arabic speaking colleagues) region and beyond.

  • Accountabilities
  • Carry out regular field visits (twice per year) to Arabic speaking MSF missions and others to conduct consultations (individual & group session) for MSF staff and trainings according to needs.
  • Carry out regular follow up visits
  • Carry our field visits in case of critical incidents
  • Draft reports with recommendations after field visits & participate in the TORs.
  • Increase the understanding of stress management of managers and leaders within the organization (stress definition, reactions, consequences, confidentiality, identification of troubled or at risk people)
  • Prepare statistics and debriefings after each visit.

 

  • Requirements

 

  • Licensed clinical psychologists only
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with 3 years in the humanitarian field
  • Staff care background experience 
  • Clinical background with strong knowledge of mental health.
  • Flexibility and ability to travel with possible short notice in case of critical incident
  • 2 possible abroad missions per year, each one around 1 month.
  • Able to work in hardship and risky conditions (considering MSF security measures)  

 

  • Fluent in Arabic, English, and French is benefit.
