SPARK develops higher education and entrepreneurship, so that young ambitious people are empowered to lead their post-conflict society into prosperity. SPARK is a dynamic and growing not-for-profit development organization with over 80 staff members that helps young entrepreneurs to start or grow their own businesses. SPARK helps displaced youth to access higher education in conflict areas. Moreover, SPARK assists post-secondary education institutions to reform their curricula to better meet the needs of the labour markets. Based in Amsterdam, SPARK has offices in among others Abidjan, Amman, Beirut, Belgrade, Bujumbura, Gaziantep, Erbil, Hargeisa, Juba, Kigali, Monrovia, Ramallah, Sanaa and Tunis.
SPARK is currently implementing a three year programme aimed at improving the social-economic position of youth in Libya, Somalia and Tunisia, with a heavy focus on youth job creation through entrepreneurship development and SME growth. The Local Employment in Africa for Development (LEAD) focuses on supporting youth through access to education, and the labour markets by creating jobs and opportunities via support and focus to existing SMEs and new start ups.
The LEAD programme in Tunisia focuses on cities in the North west, providing targeted interventions to young SMEs and start ups to help create opportunities through access to markets and finance.
The MSME Specialist works towards enhancing the capacity of existing MSMEs in Tunisia and create an environment for new creative and innovative MSMEs to develop. S/he ensures coordination with others including local partners, relevant government bodies and stakeholders so that appropriate business development services are available to the MSMEs. S/he will work towards the objectives of the LEAD programme and will support the LEAD Programme Manager in enhancing the results of the programme in Tunisia. S/he ensures that the LEAD programme is recognised as an effective, efficient programme that supports and promotes job creation among young people in Tunisia
The MSME Specialist works together with other external actors including local partners and relevant stakeholders active in SME development to support and promote MSMEs across Tunisia and with a particular focus on the North west
S/he will execute activities that contribute to increase in income and employment generation potential of MSMEs in cities across the North West of Tunisia. The target group will be MSMEs, entrepreneurs and BDS (Business Development Service) providers for MSMEs. S/he will be responsible for identifying and resolving issues and will apply creative and innovative methods and approaches to support MSMEs develop and grow with a particular focus on achieving programme objectives.
