ABOUT IFES/TUNISIA 

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is an international organization with an office in Tunisia that aims to strengthen the capacity of electoral institutions to administer credible local elections that reflect the will of the people; better inform youth and marginalized communities about local elections and decentralization; encourage youth civic engagement at the local level and; promote meaningful participation of all citizens in their political systems, including women, youth and other traditionally marginalized groups. 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

IFES has organized several activities in the past years targeting persons with disabilities in Tunisia to improve access to knowledge about political and electoral processes.

To expand the scope of the project and significantly increase persons with disabilities engagement in governance issues, IFES plans to recruit a Sign Language Advisor who will provide sign language interpretation for IFES and its partners, and record videos if needed. The sign language interpreter will also assist in the implementation of IFES projects that aim to target persons with disabilities. This position is based in Tunis and will require extra-long working hours as it may sometimes require traveling within the regions of Tunisia. The chosen sign language interpreter shall have a good network of local organizations for persons with disabilities. The assignment will start on January 28 and will end on August 31, 2020. 

In the framework developed above, IFES seeks to recruit a sign language advisor through a Basic Ordering Agreement (BOA) to provide technical functionality and content, interpretation, video production provision of electoral knowledge, and coordination with Disabled Persons Organizations (DPOs). Under the supervision of the IFES, the sign language adviser will perform the following tasks:

• Technical advice on electoral issues of sign language
• Training and evaluation
• Coordination with Disabled Persons Organizations (DPOs)
