SFCG’s mission in Tunisia is to promote the culture of dialogue and diversity through the involvement of all parts of society while building their capacities. SFCG works in Tunisia to help members of Tunisian society to address conflicts and differences constructively through cooperation and dialogue. SFCG-Tunisia works across multiple channels, mainly with youth, CSOs, media actors, security forces, and local authorities to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to address challenges including differences and acting on common points. Through this approach and partnerships, SFCG-Tunisia has four main strategic objectives: (i) Promoting Peace Education; (ii) Fostering non-violent social dialogue; (iii) Enhancing participatory and inclusive governance; and (vi) Transforming Violent Extremism in Tunisia.More information about our Tunisia program can be found here.
SFCG-Tunisia and the its national partner Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center (KADEM) strongly believe that enabling constructive dialogue between the security sector, civil society and media is key to meaningful, sustainable security sector reform. Together, SFCG-Tunisia and KADEM are implementing a bottom-up SSR initiative since 2015 to increase opportunities to constructively engage the security sector, civil society, local authorities and media in collaborative, multi-stakeholder efforts, with the aim of increasing citizen participation and inclusive approaches to local security challenges in Tunisia.
The project entitled “Promoting Civilian Engagement in Security Sector Reform in Tunisia” aims to move from a state of unilateral reform efforts made by the government, to a state of welcomed involvement of civil society actors in Tunisia in those efforts. The overall goal of the program is to support civil society actors, media, local authorities and security forces in Tunisia to improve community security through increased multi-stakeholder engagement and collaboration in security sector reform efforts in the country.
The project manager will administrate, manage and implement a program aimedat promoting a civilian approach to security sector reform in Tunisia. The position will be responsible for all aspects of programmatic, financial and administrative coordination of the SSR portfolio, including determining appropriate implementing mechanisms to achieve the program’s strategic goals; serving as the primary program liaison for donors, partners and stakeholders; overseeing planning, budgeting, and reporting; oversee the sub-grants with CSOs; and ensuring compliance with management and financial procedures. The position will report directly and primarily to the Tunisia Program Director, as well as to the Country Director. The working languages for this position are French, Arabic and English.
