Search in Tunisia

Search for Common Ground’s (Search) mission in Tunisia is to promote the culture of dialogue and diversity through the involvement of all parts of society while building their capacities. Search works in Tunisia to help members of Tunisian society to address conflicts and differences constructively through cooperation and dialogue. Search-Tunisia works across multiple channels, mainly with youth, CSOs, media actors, security forces, and local authorities to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to address challenges including differences and acting on common points. Through this approach and partnerships, Search-Tunisia has four main strategic objectives: (i) Promoting peace education; (ii) Fostering non-violent social dialogue; (iii) Enhancing participatory and inclusive governance; and (vi) Transforming Violent Extremism in Tunisia. We are searching for…

Search-Tunisia is looking to recruit a Psychological Support Consultantfor a new, exciting project that leverages mass media to promote democratic consolidation and youth leadership. Search strongly believes that fostering youth engagement in the political sphere holds the potential to develop a lifelong engagement in the democratic process and sustain Tunisia’s democratic transition. Based on this belief, Search and its production partner, Ma’an network, will produce a reality television program to increase young women and men’s interest in constructively participating in politics, peacefully engaging with their national and local governments, and improving mutual understanding and trust. This will ultimately contribute to a higher youth turnout in the 2019 elections in Tunisia.

Your contribution

The Psychological Support Consultant will play a key role working with candidates of the program “I Am The President”. S/He will provide candidates with the psychological support they need and offer individualized personal coaching sessions throughout the program. S/he will also continue to follow up with the candidates and continue supporting them for a period of three-months after the program concludes television broadcasting.The consultant will coordinate directly and primarily with the Project Manager. The working languages for this position are French, Arabic and English.

Objectives

The objective of this consultancy is to provide psychological support and counseling to the candidates of the
program “I Am The President” during the elimination phase of the program until December 2019.

The Specific Objectives are:

  • To provide psychological support and maintain continuous follow up with candidates.
  • To provide candidates with personal coaching and soft skills sessions. This includes, but is not limited to , time management, public speaking, communication, personal development, meditation, stress management, or any other soft skills that candidates may need to support their involvement in the program and during their day to day life.

The roles and responsibilities include:

  • Provide program candidates with psychological support and counseling sessions;
  • Facilitate group support sessions;
  • Develop individualized coaching plans for the final candidates of the program;
  • Provide capacity building activities to develop the skills and abilities of candidates;
  • Continue to follow up with candidates for a period of three- months after program conclusion;
  • Prepare a final report of the tasks and services provided (to be submitted as a deliverable).

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • BA/BSc in Psychology (MA degree is preferred).
  • At least 5 years experience working with youth.
  • Ability to provide personal coaching sessions.
  • Fluent in Arabic, French and English (speaking, reading, writing).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
