The Organization:

I WATCH is a Tunisian watchdog organization founded after the Tunisian revolution, which works mainly on two axes: transparency and corruption. I WATCH is the official Chapter of Transparency International in Tunisia since January 2017. I WATCH is made up of like-minded young professionals and motivated volunteers who, through their innovative work, are determined to tackle the issue of corruption and lack of integrity in both public and private sectors through laying the foundations of good governance.

I WATCH is based on two basic principles: No to exclusion: The organisation does not exclude anyone based on a religious, political, ideological, or regional background. No trusteeship: “I WATCH” believes in the youthful energies of Tunisia. The youth who made the revolution have the qualifications that make them trustworthy. The organisation works to include young people in the decision-making system and rejects trusteeship in any way due to lack of experience.

The Project:

Entitled “Local Association Media Shaping the National Agenda” this project seeks to achieve two main objectives:

• Objective 1: Equip local journalists with the needed knowledge and skills to address misinformation and hold public officials accountable.
• Objective 2: Support local Radio associations in becoming sustainable and able to engage citizens in public life.

The role:

The Senior Journalist will be managing, and monitoring components related to the support of local media associations (Radio associatives) across Tunisia, including planning, relationship building and training of beneficiaries. Under the direct supervision of the Project Director; He/ She will be responsible for the journalistic aspects of the project, technical quality insurance as well as the coordination with Radio associations, local journalists, and relevant stakeholders. She/He will ensure that the technical parts of the project are delivered in compliance with the project key performance indicators.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Provide technical oversight of select project activities.
• Initiate, plan, and implement learning activities and events to support the objectives of the project.
• Identify and collaborate with implementing partners, coordinate efforts and share results, in close collaboration especially implementing partners located across Tunisia.
• Coordinating the implementation of the assigned activities in close collaboration with the relevant project staff members.
• Carry out additional duties and tasks to meet the needs of the organization, team, or as assigned by project director.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the field of journalism, law, communication, Social Science, or political science. Other specialization would be considered in case of relevant work experience.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in the field of media support/ Journalism
• Strong presentation, writing and negotiation skills, including the ability to elaborate partnership activities
• Ability to travel across the country
• Experience conducting trainings on media development for audiences from the journalism or media field
• Working flexible hours to engage partners in multiple regions
• Excellent inter-personal skills, and ability to maintain strong relationships
• Excellent command of written and spoken Arabic. Good command of both English and French.
