SFCG’s mission in Tunisia is to promote the culture of dialogue and diversity through the involvement of all parts of society while building their capacities. SFCG works in Tunisia to help members of Tunisian society to address conflicts and differences constructively through cooperation and dialogue. SFCG-Tunisia works across multiple channels, mainly with youth, CSOs, media actors, security forces, and local authorities to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to address challenges including differences and acting on common points. Through this approach and partnerships, SFCG-Tunisia has four main strategic objectives: (i) Promoting Peace Education; (ii) Fostering non-violent social dialogue; (iii) Enhancing participatory and inclusive governance; and (vi) Transforming Violent Extremism in Tunisia. SFCG is currently recruiting for the position of Vulnerabilities Mitigation Advisor for USAID Tunisia Resilience and Community Empowerment (TRACE) program, which Search is implementing in partnership with FHI360. The TRACE program will increase the capacity of communities to withstand political, social, and economic stresses and shocks by achieving the objectives of: 1) strengthened community resilience, 2) mitigated community vulnerabilities, and 3) improved capacity of Tunisian partners to sustain and replicate the model. TRACE will spur 30 of Tunisia’s most vulnerable communities to action and generate sustainable resources for development in areas that are vulnerable to instability and violent extremism (VE). Together with USAID/Tunisia’s programs in accountability, decentralization, and youth entrepreneurship (i.e., TADAEEM and Mashrou3i), TRACE will consolidate democratic progress while fostering social cohesion in target areas.
The Vulnerabilities Mitigation Advisor will serve as a member of the technical team managed by SFCG and will report on programmatic deliverables to the TRACE Senior Technical Advisor. S/he will ensure that community-level activities address identified vulnerabilities, mitigate dividers, and strengthen connectors. The Vulnerabilities Mitigation Advisor will work with Regional Program Managers and Grant Officers to further develop TRACE activities in the regions.
● Support development of Community Resilience Activities in targeted governorate(s);
● Facilitate opportunities for improved engagement between communities and police through sports- and cultural-based approaches, community dialogue fora, trust building activities, and other approaches;
● Facilitate sharing of best practices for community-police engagement and provide space for collaborative drafting of recommendations for cooperative responses to community security concerns;
● Provide engagement opportunities for youth through innovative use of technology and creative media;
● Adapt and/or tailor project activities based upon TRACE’s vulnerability and violent extremism scans to respond to specific needs of TRACE target communities;
● Support development of policies and strategic plans to support community resiliency and youth based upon recommendations and findings from youth-led policy conferences;
● Assist the Senior Technical Advisor and Deputy Chief of Party with the design and development of activities that identify specific vulnerabilities;
● Coordinate regularly with Regional Program Managers in all offices to ensure that activities are in alignment with program goals;
● Collaborate with the TRACE Communications Specialist to find and post relevant resources and events on the planned TRACE Facebook page; and
● Conduct technical research and improvement of methodologies, as needed.

Duration: initial 12 month contract, (CDD), extendable for up to 5 years, with start date End of November 2018.
