Search in Tunisia

Search for Common Ground’s (Search) mission in Tunisia is to promote the culture of dialogue and diversity through the involvement of all parts of society while building their capacities. Search works in Tunisia to help members of Tunisian society to address conflicts and differences constructively through
cooperation and dialogue. Search-Tunisia works across multiple channels, mainly with youth, CSOs, media actors, security forces, and local authorities to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to address challenges including differences and acting on common points. Through this approach and partnerships, Search-Tunisia has four main strategic objectives: (i) Promoting peace education; (ii) Fostering non-violent social dialogue; (iii) Enhancing participatory and inclusive governance; and (vi) Transforming Violent Extremism in Tunisia. Search-Tunisia is looking to recruit a Project Manager for a new, exciting project that leverages mass media to promote democratic consolidation and youth leadership. Search strongly believes that fostering youth engagement in the political sphere holds the potential to develop a lifelong engagement in the democratic process and sustain Tunisia’s democratic transition. Based on this belief, Search and its production partner Ma’an network will produce a reality television program to increase young women and men’s interest in constructively participating in politics, peacefully engaging with their national and local
governments, and improving mutual understanding and trust, ultimately contributing to higher youth turnout in the 2019 elections in Tunisia.

Your contribution
The Project Manager will be responsible for all aspects of programmatic, financial and administrative coordination of the project on behalf of Search, including determining appropriate implementing mechanisms to achieve the project’s strategic goals; serving as the primary program liaison for donors,
partners and stakeholders; overseeing planning, budgeting, and reporting; overseeing contracting with

Ma’an network, national and local partners; and ensuring compliance with management and financial procedures. The position will report directly and primarily to the Tunisia Program Director. The working languages for this position are French, Arabic and English.

The roles and responsibilities include:

•  Provide technical leadership and support to other project staff, local and international partners, andmedia stakeholders participating in the implementation of the project.
•  Develop and maintain updated work plans, project activities, and oversee the effectiveimplementation of planned activities to the highest results, in a timely manner and within budget.
•  Prepare activities’ reports as well as quarterly narrative reports for donors, in compliance with Searchand donor requirements and in collaboration with Search’s MENA regional team and HQ.
•  Oversee the management of project budget, prepare detailed activity budgets, and ensurecompliance with contract and donor guidelines in coordination with Search’s Administrative andFinancial Team.
•  Conduct regular field visits, attending different project activities to ensure their quality, andcommunicating with key national and local stakeholders to create/maintain trust and engagement.
•  Ensure project delivery is on track, while empowering local and national partners and enhancingnational ownership for longer-term sustainability.
•  Support monitoring and evaluation work, in collaboration with Search’s Design, Monitoring andEvaluation Coordinator and Media & Communications Team and ensure data clarity, consistency and completeness.
•  Assist with communication and visibility aspects of the project, in collaboration with Search’s Media & Communications Officer, through written material, photos, success stories, updated website, social media and traditional media.
•  Lead training activities and provide support to trainers on the design of training materials.
• Support the identification and preparation of contract agreements with consultants, experts or any contractors as needed for the project.
• Support the administrative and logistical arrangements for the implementation of project activities.
•  Ensure project activities are gender- and conflict-sensitive.
• Maintain regular written and oral reporting to the Program Director and Country Director on key country and project issues.
•  Contribute creative ideas for the development of technical and financial proposals to local and international donors to sustain the ongoing program.
• Attend representational meetings with donors and ensure coordination with NGOs and other national and local actors working in the field of youth engagement, elections and media.
•  Be engaged in the continuing development of the organization, its mission and its staff, through thesharing of experience and knowledge, particularly contributing to institutional learning.
