Background
In response to the challenges currently facing the Middle East and North Africa in the wake of the Arab uprisings, Search for Common Ground (SFCG) launched the MENA Common Ground Institute (MENA CGI), a regional initiative to enhance dialogue quality in the MENA region with the ultimate goal of fostering collaborative dialogue on local, national and regional levels.
MENA CGI aims to :
Building off of the contributions made by the pilot initiative to dialogue curriculum development, which include an Arabic-language Dialogue Facilitation Manual, MENA CGI will produce a training manual on Community Dialogue Design, which will be made available in English and Arabic.
Summary of Responsibilities:
To further the initiative’s objectives, MENA CGI will develop an English-language Community Dialogue Design curriculum manual, which will be subsequently adapted into Arabic. The manual will be used as a resource for future project activities, including in Training of Trainers (TOT) and cascade trainings of dialogue experts in community dialogue design. The curriculum will be published and made available to the larger field of peace building. The consultant’s responsibilities will include the following:
A) Development of an English-language curriculum manual (50 pages minimum) on Community Dialogue Design, under close guidance by MENA CGI expertise. Using a detailed framework developed by MENA CGI, the consultant will work closely with MENA CGI staff to develop this resource in full.
Objectives
Methodology
MENA CGI will provide the Consultant with a detailed outline to guide the curriculum development process, which will contain topics including but not limited to the goals and use of the manual; the definition and culture of dialogue; dialogue design guidelines for the pre-, during, and post- dialogue phases; and guidelines for overcoming obstacles in the dialogue design process. The Consultant will develop informative content based on this outline, in close consultation with MENA CGI staff.
Editing
The Consultant will be asked to make adjustments to the curriculum based on feedback from MENA CGI staff on the initial draft, as well as feedback from a Training of Trainers (TOT) held in early March 2016, which will use parts of the draft curriculum.
Timeframe
The Consultant will deliver a draft outline of projected chapters within two weeks from the date the contract is signed. A complete first draft of the curriculum will be delivered by February 28, 2016. Following review of the draft curriculum and feedback from SFCG, the Consultant will deliver the final curriculum the end of March 2016 (specific deadline TBD).
