The North-Africa-Office of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung in Tunis (RLS) is recruiting a flexible and versatile person as Public Relation and Event Manager, whose task is to maintain and develop the social media presence of the office, to support publications and translations on North Africa, keeps contact to local and international correspondents based in Tunis and who contributes indevelopping a program of in-house events. We are looking for a person who is interested in leftist debates and progressive social change in North Africa and who is well connected with progressive NGOs and social movements in Tunisia.

The RLS with its headquarters in Berlin/Germany is a political foundation affiliated with the German Left Party. We are committed to the heritage of our namesake, the socialist activist and intellectual Rosa Luxemburg. Internationally, the RLS cooperates with local actors in the search for international relations in the spirit of mutual respect, international social justice, and understanding between nations and people. The North Africa office engages with democratic forces, social movements and left organizations in Tunis, Morocco and Egypt.

Post Conditions:

Type of contract: Local contract with 6 months’ probation that can be converted into an unlimited contract

Working hours: Full time (40hours/week)

Location: Based in Tunis, Tunisia

Salary & Conditions: According to RLS Tunis Salary Scale

Starting date: As soon as possible

Main Responsibilities:

Website and social media tasks:

• Development and regularly update of an attractive multilingual website and social media presence (Facebook/Instagram/Twitter) that reflects the activities of the RLS;
• Report on RLS-activities on social media (short articles/podcasts/you tube videos);

• Cooperate with the English Website of the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung in Berlin;
• Help to build up a network of correspondents who can write background analyses and reports on social, economic and political events on North Africa from a leftist perspective;
• Develop a concept and edit a newsletter of the RLS Office;

Public relation tasks:

• Build a database of journalists based in Tunisia and other project countries;
• Support the publication of research papers and books.
• Organizing press conferences in preparation of important events;
• Prepare outreach material (Flyer/posters etc.);

Event management and communication:

• Organize In-House Events (Debates/Cine-Club);
• Support activities of the RLS program managers and the head of office;
