Within the framework of its project ‘Promoting an agenda for mental health in marginalised regions in Tunisia’, an experienced researcher is needed for the implementation of a project in six cities, three in Kasserine and three in Tataouine.
About the project:
This consultancy comes within the framework of a project implemented by International Alert Tunisia, titled ‘Promoting an agenda for mental health in marginalised regions in Tunisia’. The aim of this project is to promote the right to health, which is a constitutional right, in marginalised border regions, and more specifically, to push forward an agenda for accessible, affordable, and inclusive mental healthcare services for young people in these regions.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Within the framework of this consultancy, the consultant will assist Alert’s team in conducting a needs assessment based on participatory bottom-up approaches. The tasks and responsibilities include:
2.1. Participating with Alert’s research team in formulating the questionnaire.
2.2 Engaging with Alert’s scientific committee for the validation of the questionnaire.
2.3. Supporting Alert’s research team in the identification of young people who will participate in the focus group meetings.
2.4. Taking part in the organisation of the focus group meetings.
2.5. Facilitating and leading on the focus group discussions.
2.6. Contributing in the workshop to discuss the preliminary results of the research groups and approving a preliminary conception of the research report.
2.7. Drafting the needs assessment report.
2.8. Follow up on the final completion of the report.
2.9. Taking part in disseminating the report with the media and social media.
Travel Requirements:
3.1. Travel to project sites during the implementation of the citizen diagnostic tool is expected, COVID-permissive.
3.2. Alert will ensure that all conducted meetings abide by health and safety precautions as well as respecting governmental decisions.
Timing and deliverables:
4.1. The needs assessment will run from March to May 2022.
Essential Requirements:
The below are essential requirements for the consultancy:
5.1. A graduate of general medicine or psychology;
5.2 Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare issues, policies and challenges in Tunisia;
5.3. Excellent research writing and editing skills;
5.4. A strong experience of working with civil society organisations and youth;
5.5. Excellent facilitation skills.
5.6. Excellent verbal and written skills in Arabic.
