Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context: 

Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator of Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), the DTM Reporting & Analysis Assistant will be responsible for the responsibilities listed below.

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  1. Contribute to DTM’s reporting outputs in coordination with DTM’s Reporting Officer
  2. Lead the adaptation of DTM reporting products to Arabic speaking audience; 
  3. Participate in the revision of the data collection tools and training of the surveyors;
  4. Support data analysis activities, as required;
  5. Informally translate all required DTM products from English to Arabic;
  6. Contribute to DTM’s presence in Arabic social media to support its integration into IOM Libya’s Arabic broader visibility and outreach outputs by selecting relevant materials and drafting social media post  
  7. Prepare training notes for files (NFF) and meetings’ report.
  8. Provide general assistance translating a wide range of materials such as press releases and/or media features, social media messages, reports and researches, and any other content necessary from English to Arabic and vice-versa as required; 
  9. Assist the Programme Coordinator to ensure that DTM information material, such as reports and dashboards, are ready for immediate publishing, with a high level of attention to detail and consistency;
  10. Perform any other duties as may be assigned. 

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in human siences , Public or Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience or; 
  • Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with six years of relevant professional experience;

Experience 

  • Excellent communication skills in English and Arabic ;
  • Experience in working with migration related issues;
  • Work experience from an international organization is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in an international, humanitarian/development organization and/or in capacity building initiatives is an advantage;
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds and respect for diversity and gender equality;
  • Experience preferably in an international organization. Experience with IOM or another international organization a plus; or master’s degree in the above field is an advantage; 
  • Ability to pay close attention to details and work with minimal supervision 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines   
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with a team of colleagues 
  • Able to set up internal reporting system.

Languages

Fluency in English and Arabic is required.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment and verification of residency, visa and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable. 

Only candidates residing in either the country of the duty station or from a location in a neighbouring country that is within commuting distance of the duty station will be considered. In all cases, a prerequisite for taking up the position is legal residency in the country of the duty station, or in the neighbouring country located within commuting distance, and work permit, as applicable.
