Organization background:

Center for Human Rights Defenders Association (CHRDA) Is an independent non-governmental organization registered and founded in France in 2016. CHRDA aims to promote the rights of Human Rights Defenders and vulnerable populations, analyze the difficulties facing the application of International Human Rights Law and disseminating Human Rights Culture in the MENA Region, and engage in a dialogue between cultures. A crucial part of CHRDA’s mandate is to help shape the understanding of the most pressing human rights defenders’ concerns within the region and then coordinate and mobilize the key players and NGOs from across the Arab world to work together. CHRDA is a member of the Platform (Coalition of 13 Libyan organizations).

Furthermore, CHRDA is a Libyan HRD’s network, supporting, empowering, and protecting Libyan HRDs inside and outside Libya. CHRDA emerged from the need to find a space for Jurists outside their country, especially with the outbreak of armed conflict in several cities in Libya and targeting defenders and activists; attacks and abuses sometimes reached the limit of assassinations

Key Responsibilities:

    • Contribute to the development of the project strategy.
    • Work to develop the continuity of the project.

Functions:

  • the process of surveying defenders and actors on the ground, whether inside or outside the territory of Libya.
  • Assist in monitoring the situation of Libyan defenders and mapping.
  • Assist in drafting press releases, regular News bulletin, urgent appeals and other advocacy efforts aimed at improving the protection of Libyan defenders.
  • Facilitate advocacy campaigns, communication and platforms meetings.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of training in capacity building on security of information, IT& network security, proper documentation, networking and advocacy campaigns.
  • Financial follow-up related to HRDs events and meetings.
  • Draft minutes and events reports.
  • Organize logistics of meetings, workshop  .
  • A detailed monthly report.
  • Regular meetings with HRDs:
  • Networking and communication with donors and partners.

Job context 

The protection program lays in the core of CHRDA (center of human rights defenders association) mission. It is at the heart of most of the organization’s objectives. The center was founded on the basis of collective cooperation to provide all kinds of support to human rights defenders working to prevent or mitigate human rights violations in their communities. 

The Protection Section is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the Defenders Protection Program and disseminating information enabling them to operate in a safe environment. And take tired procedures and standards with regard to sharing data with other actors, whether regional or international. The Protection Section ensures the quality of data collection and analysis and ensures the preparation of accurate reports for dissemination to stakeholders and used to guide advocacy both internally and externally. The Protection Section also plays a key role in strengthening the presence and leadership of a Defender Center organization in the field to protect groups and individuals by attending relevant meetings, communicating with other non-governmental actors and identifying potential partners.

CONTRACT AND SALARY

1-year contract subjected to a 3-month probation period. Renewal subject to funding.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • University Degree in the field of law, international law, social sciences, political affairs, humanitarian affairs, or any other related field.
  • Comfortable to work in a multi-cultural environment, and able to handle pressure as well.
  • Good Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills (Written and oral), and good interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken both Arabic and English.
  • At least three year of work experience with CSOs and NGOs
  • pervious experience in Protection with INGOs is an asset.
  • Good Knowledge of Human rights, Protection and case management.
