JOB BRIEF
The Tunisia Project Specialist position is based in Tunis and supports implementation and management of community dialogue and peacebuilding initiatives, including the Alliance of Tunisian Facilitators (ATF) and Synergizing Non-Violent Action and Peacebuilding (SNAP) projects. This position reports to the Tunisia Country Manager and the Tunisia Project Officer.
This is a Fixed-Time Term Personal Services Contractor position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Program support:
- Collaborate with Tunisia Project Officer, Tunisia Country Manager, local partners, and other staff to design and implement the project activities.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships critical to the successful implementation of all activities.
- Lead daily and weekly interactions and planning with local partners in consultation with the Project Officer.
- Provide or contribute to agendas and documents, and support drafting weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting on project.
- Attend, support, and monitor project activities.
- Contribute to drafting of annual and quarterly project workplans and arrange relevant planning meetings within the office and with counterparts.
- Provide translation and interpretation support as needed in English, Arabic, and French.
- Collaborate with Washington and Tunis based staff to ensure timely preparation of programmatic and financial reports to the Tunisia Country Manager, the Project Officer, Tunisia and to other entities as appropriate.
- Follow up with partners, attend meetings, and take notes as needed.
- Provide security and political updates as always needed and maintain a high level of security awareness.
- Represent USIP when/where necessary.
Admin and logistical support:
- Work with project officer to provide technical and administrative assistance to implementing partners.
- Help manage logistical and administrative requirements for the successful implementation of peacebuilding and dialogue projects in Tunisia. This includes, but is not limited to contract submission, document preparation for payments, vendors contracts, events coordination, and budget projections.
- Support team members to ensure all staff follow USIP policies and procedures: security, finance, administration, and operations.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Reporting and M&E:
- Support the design of the M&E workplan and tools.
- Lead collection and analysis of M&E data.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred)
- Three (3) or more years of related experience
- Knowledge of Tunisia conflict and political dynamics required, and peacebuilding thematic expertise preferred
- Demonstrated project design, implementation, and monitoring, evaluation & learning experience.
- Experience managing programs in coordination with teams based abroad
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated research, analytic, and writing skills. Able to write effectively in a variety of formats and for a variety of audiences
- Fluency in Arabic and English speaking, writing, and reading is required. Fluency in French is strongly preferred
- Must have the ability to design and manage budgets
- Must have strong collaboration skills and coordination skills, balancing needs and priorities of multiple stakeholders
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Excel is required
