- Mission of the Department:
WWF North Africa intervenes at different levels, from the conservation of natural and their species, to the promotion of sustainable development, through the training of decision-makers, the support of companies towards sustainable development or the education of young audiences and adaptation to climate change.
The Landscape and Adaptation program aims to conserve forest landscapes and adapt to climate change in North Africa with the implementation of several projects in partnership with public departments, the private sectors and civil society.
Major Functions.
- Assist under the support and supervision of the WWF NA Landscape & Adaptation Program Manager the implementation of project activities with objectives and results achievement.
- Develop under the support of the project officer to preparation of the monthly activities all technical reports and other project documents and regularly update the project database.
- Check the database and add the missing documents in order of the audit
- Prepare the monthly activities of the project and manage the relative budget.
- Lead the coordination and relationship with the CSOs involved on the project ().
- Supports the project administration and financial reporting, and the coordination with the donor (WWF France).
- Organize and manage under the support of the project officer logistics for the organization of missions, meetings, workshops, field visits and events required by the project in Tunisia and abroad.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supports the project officer in the implementation of WWF Social and Environmental Safeguards (ESSF).WWF’s Environmental and Social Safeguards Framework (ESSF), hereafter referred to as the “framework,” provides an institutional mechanism to manage the environmental and social risks of WWF’s work, helps deliver better conservation outcomes, and enhances the social well-being of local communities in the places where WWF operates. The safeguards framework is designed to address a broad range of environmental and social risks, mindful of the different challenges and needs in different parts of the world. It systematizes good governance practices to achieve human rights, transparency, nondiscrimination, public participation, and accountability, among other goals.
- Upon agreement with the supervisor, undertakes travel and missions aimed at the effective undertaking of all the above-mentioned duties.
- Coordinate with other projects about climate change developed by WWF North Africa.
Profile:
- University level (bac + 5) or more in nature conservation, climate change and sustainable development, or another related field.
- 3 years of work experience in working with public, CSOs and private sector stakeholders on natural conservation, climate change conservation and/or sustainability including project management experience.
- Experience on project management, if possible, projects financed by international donors such as AFD, would be a plus.
- Fluency in oral and written expression in French and English.
- Very good writing ability in French.
- Good understanding of budget and finance management; be able to closely work with the Finance officer during the implementation of the project.
- Be able to organize your work so as to accomplish tasks in a timely manner and demonstrate a spirit of initiative and autonomy.
