Search in Tunisia 

SFCG’s mission in Tunisia is to promote the culture of dialogue and diversity through the involvement of  all parts of society while building their capacities. SFCG works in Tunisia to help members of Tunisian  society to address conflicts and differences constructively through cooperation and dialogue. SFCG Tunisia works across multiple channels, mainly with youth, CSOs, media actors, security forces, and local  authorities to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to address challenges including differences  and acting on common points. Through this approach and partnerships, SFCG-Tunisia has four main  strategic objectives: (i) Promoting Peace Education; (ii) Fostering non-violent social dialogue; (iii)  Enhancing participatory and inclusive governance; and (vi) Transforming Violent Extremism in Tunisia.  More information about our Tunisia program can be found here. 

Project Summary 

The National Peace Education Curriculum Initiative comes as a third stage following the two-year  experience of the pilot peace education program implemented in Tunisia. The pilot consisted in a C/PVE  project aiming at fostering the resilience of Tunisian children and youth vis-à-vis violent and extremist  narratives. The project received considerable buy-in from the Ministry of Education (MoE), that was its  most strategic partner. The results achieved through the pilot phases led the MoE to voice its interest in  creating a locally owned national curriculum that would eventually be generalized on all Tunisian primary  schools. This initiative thus seeks to develop a national peace education curriculum with the help of  national and international experts in the fields of curriculum development, child psychology, M&E,  pedagogy etc. The project also includes a second component consisting in the creation of 15 peace  clubs targeting a different age group (14-20 years) through sub-grants. The peace clubs will be the fruit of  a collaboration between local CSOs (the sub-grantees) and local youth institutions such as youth centers.  The aim of these clubs is to foster youth involvement in local decision-making processes while doing so in  aa constructive and non-violent manner. 

We are searching for… 

SFCG is currently recruiting for the position of Project Officer, in the framework of the National Peace  Education Curriculum Initiative in Tunisia. The Project Officer will be responsible for supporting implementation of this project and will directly support the Project Manager. The Project Officer will be  involved in the management of programmatic and administrative procedures based on the requests of the  supervisor. He/she will also be involved in in-field project implementation of both previously described  project components. S/He is expected to have fluent communication and maintain excellent relations with  partners. The position will report directly and primarily to the Project Manager, as well as to the Program  Manager. 

The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

∙ Conduct programmatic and administrative duties related to all aspects of project  implementation, as instructed by supervisor(s). 

∙ Support with the follow-up and implementation of peace club sub-grants (in-field as well as  the different programmatic aspects).  

∙ Maintain effective communication systems and ensure information flow within the project team and with relevant partners; essentially the National Observatory of Youth. 

∙ Prepare tracking documents for meetings, and update tracking tools regularly; ∙ Taking meeting minutes, typing and distributing to stakeholders and partners; ∙ Research and gather materials for the project; 

∙ Support with the project reporting requirements. 

∙ Coordinating with local CSOs and other relevant stakeholders as needed; 

∙ Be the focal point with the Sub-grantees and peace clubs beneficiaries 

∙ Drafting and submitting activity reports; 

∙ Assisting in logistical and administrative tasks related to the implementation of the activities; ∙ Supporting in engaging and monitoring peace clubs youth participants; 

∙ Assisting in facilitating peace clubs training sessions as needed; 

∙ Be engaged in the continuing development of the organization, its mission and its staff,  through the sharing of experience and knowledge, particularly contributing to its Institutional  Learning; and 

∙ Support with project translation requirements (English/French/Arabic).
