Job Summary
Democracy International is seeking to hire a Project Manager for the Civil Society Activity in Tunisia. This position is open to Tunisian nationals. The Project Manager will manage day-to-day activities and the overall implementation of the Civil Society Activity. The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the activities on the field and technical content.
The Civil Society Activity aims to empower Tunisian citizens to act and advocate for specific issues and effect change at the local, regional, and national level in advancing Tunisia’s development and build the legitimacy and sustainability of the civil society sector.
Responsibilities
The Project Manager will manage day-to-day activities of the Civil Society Activity program. The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the activities on the field and technical content. The tasks to be completed under this SOW are as follows:
- Planning, coordinating, and implementing the project’s activities and ensure these activities are of high quality and delivered on time.
- Manage project and organizational risk, including the development of contingency, emergencies preparedness, and hostile environment plans.
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and management of required training and development programs that are in line with the project’s objectives.
- Work closely with local and international project partners to coordinate the implementation of communications and outreach campaigns to ensure they are in line with project activities and deliverables.
- Support the Program Director to design and implement training, capacity-building, and outreach activities.
- Support the Program Director with and contribute to weekly, quarterly, and annual project narrative and financial reports for USAID and the DI Home Office.
- Support the Program Director to prepare monthly budget forecasts and activity plan(s).
- Work with the MEL Specialist to ensure that learning objectives, activity outcomes, and activity outputs are being tracked and met through data collection and management.
- Contribute MEL-related data and programmatic insights to quarterly progress tracking and reporting.
Required Qualifications, Skills, & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive management responsibility for international or medium to large-scale projects in Tunisia.
- Experience working with civil society programs and civil society groups required, experience working with marginalized communities strongly preferred.
- Experience implementing USAID or other international donor programming strongly preferred.
- Proven knowledge of the civil society landscape in Tunisia, including outside of the capital and major cities, required.
- Capacity to work well both independently and as a member of a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and deadline oriented.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English, French, and Arabic are required.
Reporting Requirements
The Project Manager will report to the Program Director.
Direct reports may include the Regional Coordinators.
