Background: The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy and an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and civil society to build the institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include enterprise ecosystems, democratic governance, business advocacy, anti-corruption & ethics, and trade.

CIPE is implementing a three-year project in Tunisia funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Near East Affairs Bureau to strengthen good governance in the Tunisian health sector by improving transparency and management in public hospitals and the medicinal supply chain.  CIPE will partner with local organizations and firms to create an enhanced tracking system for the medicinal supply chain, establish an effective and relevant legal and regulatory framework to govern Tunisia’s healthcare system, and upgrade training structures for Ministry of Health staff.

Position:         Project Coordinator, Supporting Anti-Corruption in Healthcare Administration (SAHA)

Reports to:     Project Director, SAHA

Scope: Based in Tunis, Tunisia, the Project Coordinator will work with the SAHA Project Director and the other members of the project team to achieve the following objectives:

  • Objective 1: A coherent electronic tracking system of Tunisia’s medicinal supply chain is created and piloted in five hospitals
  • Objective 2: A more effective regulatory framework for the Ministry of Health is developed to promote good governance and transparency in the health sector
  • Objective 3: Tunisian Ministry of Health staff have increased capacity to implement good governance practices in public hospitals

Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the following primary duties:

  • Work in close collaboration with the Project Director, North Africa Program Officer, and Tunis Office Field Representative to coordinate project deliverables and activities for the program.
  • Support the Project Director with administrative and office management tasks including keeping track of action items at meetings, following up with contractors, consultants, and sub-grantee organizations, and keeping detailed project notes and records.
  • Communicate with contractors to maintain continuous oversight of progress toward deliverables.
  • Attend monthly meetings of a Project Taskforce and take clear and comprehensive meeting minutes.
  • Facilitate internal communication and provide timely updates on contractor, consultant, and sub-grantee activities.
  • Under supervision of the Project Director, monitor and participate in project activities and represent CIPE at local engagements and with project stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Contribute to quarterly narrative reports and write up accounts of project success stories.
  • Coordinate with sub-grantee organizations responsible for co-implementing aspects of the project to deconflict and maintain progress of parallel lines of work.
  • Ensure compliance with CIPE and State Department guidelines, policies, and procedures in implementing program.
  • Assist with organizing events, both internal to the project and public-facing.
  • Contribute to appropriate implementation of project strategy, periodic technical assessments, and research products as directed by supervisor.
  • Review project documents for quality, comprehensiveness, and accuracy.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Minimum 5 years of administrative or programmatic experience required; project management experience supporting public health and/or anti-corruption programs preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, law, public administration, international development, or related field.
  • Excellent written and spoken French and English, as well as excellent written Arabic.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage multiple time-sensitive, detail-oriented tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Skilled at relationship building and network development with organizations and individuals.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with international best practices and Tunisian laws and regulations concerning public health, anti-corruption, and health training preferred, but not required.
  • Strong skills in MS Office, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook (as well as Teams and SharePoint preferred). Familiarity with Asana or other project management tools a plus, but not required.
