Position name: Project Coordinator
Location: Tunis – Tunisia
Position reports to: Programme Manager
Established in 2012, International Alert’s Tunisia office has been working in marginalized neighbourhoods and interior border regions to strengthen the social, economic, and political inclusion of excluded groups, in particular young people and women. We promote political participation and respect for human rights in marginalised urban and peri-urban areas, and tackle the economic, social and political factors that favour marginalization.
This position came in the framework of a new project: “Preventing institutional violence against youth in marginalised neighbourhoods” The project aims to address multiple forms of institutional violence against young people in Grand-Tunis.
For which we need a project coordinator with solid experience in management of research, conducting advocacy, and establishing partnership. The project coordinator will oversee the implementation of the project and will in particular set up youth platforms, support the production of a research report, and conduct advocacy campaigns and dialogue activities.
- Duties and Responsibilities
The project coordinator will undertake the following tasks:
- Ensuring effective project implementation in the 4 project sites: planning and overseeing the implementation of all project activities and outputs;
- Establishing and maintaining partnerships with local civil society organisations and local authorities;
- Supporting the formation of youth networks in the 4 project sites and contributing to its sustainability.
- Coordinating and supporting the field research;
- Organising dialogue and training sessions and supporting the production of cultural products;
- Contributing to the development and implementation of an advocacy and communication plan;
- Supporting the Finance Manager in the budget management and administration of financial tasks related to the execution of the project: money transfers, cash requests, invoice processing, expenditure planning and control;
- Contributing to the design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, learning and accountability tools for the project;
- Drafting project intermediate and completion reports, including narrative and financial reports, in coordination with the Programme and Finance Manager;
- Ensuring the visibility of Alert and project activities in various communication platforms.
- Duration of the contract and location
Contract length: 22 months.
Location: The project activities will be conducted in four sites in Grand-Tunis.
- Qualifications and experience:
- A university degree in social sciences, or similar field;
- Three years of proven experience in a similar post in an international or local NGO
- A good knowledge of the Tunisian context, in particular in working-class neighbourhoods, and civil society;
- Experience of networking and advocacy on social and human rights issues;
- Experience of partnership management and development;
- Experience in report-writing (finance and narrative reports);
- Experience in managing project budgets and monitoring;
- Proven track record of organising events, managing communications and facilitation of meetings;
- Excellent command of Arabic and French or English and editing skills;
- Ability to take initiatives and work in a team.
Desirable :
- Previous work experience on youth in Tunisia
- Previous work experience in working-class neighbourhoods.
