Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and of the head of Resource Management and the direct supervision of the Senior Protection Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing effective and efficient financial support to the Protection Unit.

The Project Finance Assistant will undertake the following tasks:

1. Support the Protection Unit in managing the financial aspects of the unit’s projects in the area of protection, in compliance with IOM’s standards and procedures, as well as donor requirements.
2. Assist the PMs in the control and monitoring of the projects activities and budget consumption by contributing to prepare monthly financial monitoring reports for the Head of Unit, ensuring that the project specific conditions are reflected in the actual expense documentation.
3. Assist the preparation of financial reports in line with project deadlines for submission of reports; assist in preparing financial reports for regular donor reporting for the projects of the unit and liaise with IOM Tunisia Resource Management Office and with relevant regional offices responsible for reviewing the reports.
4. Bring to the attention of the supervisors any relevant financial and budgetary issues and propose remedial actions.
5. Support timely coordination with the procurement and finance units for the follow-up of all the financial aspects of the activities related to Protection Unit projects’ implementation, including follow-up on conclusion of contracts with service providers, on procurement of required items, on submission of payment request and on processing of payments, timely settlement of operational and travel advances with a view to contributing to ensuring the timely payment to all suppliers.
6. Assist in creating and maintaining a proper documentation and systematic tracking and filing systems of financial & project documents including the maintenance of the classification system (Hard/Soft copies) and databases of the relevant documents.
7. Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Communications, Information Management, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or
• High School diploma with four years of relevant professional experience

EXPERIENCE

• Experience working in international organizations and the humanitarian community
• Experience providing support in project management and implementation
• Experience in the implementation of population databases a distinct advantage
• Experience in statistical analysis (STATA, SPSS, etc) is an advantage
• Experience in a wide variety of software applications including GIS, Database, and Visual analytics, Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher) and Adobe
• Experience in relevant issues such as migration, displacement, and humanitarian assistance would be an asset
• Experience in working with WAVE
