Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Programme Coordinator who will be working in the Social Cohesion sector.

About the job

DRC and the Mixed Migration Centre (MMC) have been identified by UNDP as its potential implementing partner in charge of supporting the production of a contextualized diagnosis of (i) the existing pressures exerted on social cohesion and of (ii) the governance and management capacities of civil society associations in the governorates of Medenine, Tataouine and Gabes. The position is subject to funding confirmation.

The project would represent the start-up phase of the Tarabot II initiative and would revolve around three main components and their inherent tasks described as follows:

1. Facilitate a consultation process around the results of the social cohesion surveys in Tataouine and Gabes

2. Advise on the priority capacity-building needs of civil society in Medenine, Tataouine and Gabes

3. Provide qualitative data on the impact of migration on social cohesion in Medenine, Tataouine and Gabes

Reporting to, guided and directed by the Head of Programme, the Social Cohesion Coordinator main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Providing technical expertise and leadership for component 1 in order to ensure project objectives are achieved in a manner that meets donor expectations and that is in line with the agreed programme budget and plan.
  • Supervising and coordinating the execution of component 2 and component 3.
  • Leading the overall coordination of the social cohesion project and give the strategic directions and management of its three components.
  • Coordinating programmatic, technical, logistical, financial, and administrative management components with team members and donor counterparts.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have minimum 3-5 years of civil society grants management experience. Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • Master’s degree in international development, social science, civil society, law, political science, management, or a related field.
  • Has proven record of accomplishment of previous work in social cohesion, migration, peacebuilding and/or youth development; strong understanding of the nature and needs that communities often express and of migration trends in Tunisia.
  • Experience of, and commitment to, working through systems of community participation and accountability and has proven experience in social cohesion engagement as well as youth positive development.
  • Effectively works with internal and external stakeholders; develops effective partnerships; demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Professional fluency in English, French and Arabic is required.
  • Strong writing and speaking skills; able to explain complex ideas in a simple yet compelling manner.
  • Good Presentation and speaking skills to represent consortium at meetings and events.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Outgoing personality and willingness to be flexible with duties and priorities.
  • Knowledge of budget development and tracking.
  • Master’s degree in relevant discipline (international studies/development, research methods, social sciences, etc.)

Contract length: 5 Months

Band: G – non management

Designation of Duty Station: Family duty station

Start date: 9th of January 2023
