ICTJ Libya program is seeking applications from competent professionals to fill the following full-time position to be based in Tunis (Remote work locations within Libya could also be considered). The position will report to the Head of ICTJ Libya Program.

ICTJ assists societies confronting massive human rights abuses to promote accountability, pursue truth, provide reparations, and build trustworthy institutions. Committed to the vindication of victims’ rights and the promotion of gender justice, Employer provides expert technical advice, policy analysis, and comparative research on transitional justice approaches, including criminal prosecutions, reparations initiatives, truth seeking and memory, and institutional reform.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to strategy development and project design in support of ICTJ’s work on transitional justice in Libya. 
  • Coordinate and consult with ICTJ experts at Headquarters in the design of project activities.
  • Develop and sustain partnerships with local civil society and authorities in strengthening local initiatives in the criminal justice field, and coordinate with civil society, victims, and other stakeholders throughout the country, for the purposes of information-sharing, designing and implementing activities, monitoring and reporting. 
  • Support monitoring, research and analysis of criminal justice issues in Libya.
  • Contribute to drafting ICTJ external documentation including policy briefs, research reports and media statements. 
  • Support timely completion of internal progress reports and donor reports as required. 
  • In coordination with the Head of Program, supervise and manage the work of external consultants on specific projects as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • All responsibilities listed above will be performed under the supervision and direction of the ICTJ-Libya Head of Program. 

Qualifications:

  • The Program Associate will possess the following qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree in law, political science, international relations, social sciences, or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years demonstrable experience of working in the field of transitional justice and/or human rights and/or transitional in an international organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the transitional justice concepts and the key developments relating to Libya. 
  • Proven ability to conduct research and implement capacity building and training projects.
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of French is desirable. 
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to details.
  • Flexible and committed to teamwork.
