Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Partnership and Localisation Specialist.

About the job

The Partnership and Localisation Specialist will be Responsible for supporting DRC Tunisia-Algeria-Libya country program to identify partnership opportunities and to strengthen ongoing partnerships to improve the quality and relevance of DRC’s work. The Specialist develop the partnership strategy, tools and capacity to support DRC to be a quality partner and to apply sound partnership principles. He/she will be responsible of developing effective relations and communications with all partners and supporting the DAPP (Danish Arab Private Partnership) project lead in establishing and strengthening partnership systems and processes that are relevant to DRC Tunisia-Algeria-Libya Country office. This position requires field work in the three countries (40%) and a proactive personality to interact with the different stakeholders of DRC ALT response.

The position can be based either in Tripoli or Tunis and is managed by the Head of Program in close collaboration with the PDQM (Program Development Quality Manager) with a technical reporting line to the Regional Partnership and Localization advisor based in Dakar.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Establish and maintain a partnership database that maps out partner capacity, influence, and strategic alignment with DRC programming.
  • Coordinate across teams to carry out partner organizational capacity assessments and analyse assessments to identify specific capacity strengthening and organizational development needs and provide and/or coordinate training and targeted capacity strengthening support.
  • Support proposal development for funding opportunity components directly related to partnerships and localisation and actively support identification of and liaison with new and existing donors, in close collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Analyse results of on-going partnerships, remote management, and results on the ground to produce lessons learnt and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Lead initiatives to improve partnership practices by periodically assessing DRC ALT’s partnership approach, considering both DRC and partners’ perspectives, capture lessons learned and best practices, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide technical programmatic and operational advice to develop and mainstream localisation for DRC ALT’s operation.
  • Help identify needs in term of partnership and localisation across the support functions in close collaboration with the Head of Support Services
  • Support the development of strategic alliance and partnership and represent DRC in external meetings.
  • Support the implementation of the Go Local strategy of DRC and any other relevant localization and partnership related tasks.

About you

  • To be successful in this role we expect you to Demonstrable skills with the design and facilitation of trainings and workshops.
  • Excellent communication skills for writing and presentation
  • Demonstrable abilities in problem solving as well as taking a flexible and innovative approach to working.
  • Able to travel up to 40% of the time.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required:

• At least 3 years’ experience working or volunteering with an INGO or NNGO in a similar role

• Experience in administration or event logistics

• Experience dealing with national NGOs or CBOs

• Experience with financial auditing is an advantage

• Experience with major donors is an advantage (ECHO, YHF, DANIDA, UN, etc.)

• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel

• Full professional proficiency in English and Arabic

 

Desirable:

Professional background in working in contexts with internally displaced persons and/or refugees, experience working in multicultural work settings, and experience with training is an advantage.
