The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Tunisia is looking for a National Medical Officer according to the terms of reference stipulated below.
Position Title : National Medical Officer (NOA)
Duty Station : IOM Tunisia
Estimate Starting date : As soon as possible
Type of contract and Duration : OYFT (one year fixed term contract, with possibility of renewal)
Organizational Context and Scope:
Under the general supervision of the Chief of Mission (COM) and the direct supervision of the Counter Trafficking/Migrants Protection Project Manager (CT/MP-PM) in Tunisia, the successful candidate will ensure the proper implementation of the regional project “Promoting health and well-being of migrants” (TRANSIT II) in Tunisia while providing technical support to the Tunisian government, including instances belonging to the Ministry of Health and the civil society.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Repatriation of third-country nationals stranded in Tunisia:
- Coordinate the project steering committee at the national level in Tunisia, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and other national partners;
- Act as a resource person for IOM Tunisia on health issues and provides capacity building sessions on issues of migration and health, in coordination with national and regional partners;
- Coordinate the implementation and monitoring mechanisms related to the medical assistance provided by IOM and reference / orientation of vulnerable cases in the Project, both in the Greater Tunis and in the southern region of Tunisia, in synergy with all relevant national partners and civil society;
- Contribute to the analysis of data on health issues in Tunisia and advice on developments of new trends in health and migration in the country for the successful implementation of the project;
- Contribute to and write periodic and annual project reports in the frame of the Project in Tunisia;
- Provide support to the implementation of IOM Tunisia activities linked to health, including research, education and training on health and migration;
- Attend conferences and seminars on health and migration;
- Produce written articles/reports and outputs for IOM, external partners and stakeholders, as required;
- Attend meetings of the Thematic Group on Social Protection of the UNDAF Health component, and act as focal point for monitoring the JUNTA;
- Support the development of new proposals for health-related projects for IOM Tunisia;
- Perform any other duties required.
