Organizational Context and Scope:
Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN organization in the field of migration works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Under the overall guidance of the chief of Mission, and direct supervision of the Project Managers, the successful applicant will support the Project Managers during the implementation of the “Awareness Raising and Information for Safety and Empowerment Campaign” (ARISE) project and of the Hajti Bik (previously called MOBi-TRE).
In particular, the successful applicant will:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the Outreach plan and activities and foster projects’ visibility among its governmental, non-governmental, private partners and beneficiaries.
- Lead communication efforts to ensure beneficiaries are reached and benefit from the project.
- Establish strong relationships with the public sector and coordinate with the selected beneficiaries to ensure smooth project implementation.
- Participate in the development of project concepts/proposals, resource mobilization initiatives and the preparation of regular progress reports on the project.
- Organize and participate in events, meetings, and trainings, with civil society organizations, and all other relevant stakeholders with the aim to coordinate and promote IOM activities.
- Draft, implement and monitor Standards Operating Procedures to be used between the projects, partners and beneficiaries in the context of project activities which entail communication and outreach.
- Develop messages and visuals elements for outreach activities, in line with strategies and in close cooperation with IOM’s implementing partners.
- Identify and map civil society actors who could assist IOM projects in outreach activities; create and develop networks to be mobilized for project activities.
- Assist the project manager in conducting risks assessments in order to identify projects and/or activities which may have any potential negative effects of certain groups to realize their rights. If needed, propose mitigation strategies and measures to reduce risks.
- Foster participatory and empowerment approaches within projects and propose strategies or activities to overcome potential barriers.
- Perform any other tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor.
