Location: Tozeur, Kebili, Medenine, or Gabes, Tunisia

Travel: To project areas within Tozeur, Kebili, Medenine, and Gabes governorates of Tunisia

Salary: Commensurate with experience.

The Near East Foundation (NEF) is seeking qualified candidates for a Project Coordinator to be based in Tozeur, Kebili, Medenine, or Gabes, Tunisia. For over 100 years, NEF has worked to build more sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive communities in the Middle East and Africa through education, governance, and economic development initiatives. NEF’s work is organized around three program areas: Peacebuilding through Economic Cooperation, Microenterprise Development, and Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources Management.

Position Description

The Project Coordinator is a member of NEF team in Tunisia, reporting to the Country Director of Tunisia. The Project Coordinator ensures the day-to-day management and implementation of the prospective NEF project in the Gabes, Medenine, Tozeur, Kebili governorates of Tunisia, which aims to improve entrepreneurship and employment opportunities of young Tunisians from marginalized areas holding a university education.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring project activities are implemented as outlined in the project proposals and budgets in accordance with NEF policies and regulations.
• Ensuring the networking of young entrepreneurs, employment seekers and employers with one another as well as with other economic actors.
• Supporting the development of monthly updates, quarterly and annual implementation plans in coordination with project staff and local partner organizations.
• Establishing positive working relationships with relevant government offices, local and international organizations, academic institutions and private sector actors with activities relevant to the project to identify areas for potential collaboration in coordination with country director.
• Supporting the project in conception and implementation of a participatory methodology in its activities
• Making information related to planned activities available to the project’s main partners and stakeholders
• Supporting project management in the preparation of activity reports and other documents
• Contributing to studies and research about youth and self-employment in the region.
• Helping organize training sessions, seminars, conferences, exchange workshops and technical missions
• Establishing contracts with consultants/contractors for project implementation
• Participating in budget development and disbursement plans.
