The Maghreb Economic Forum & zenith magazine are looking for an ambitious and experienced editor or journalist to fill the key role of managing editor of its new Arabic website. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a new media venture from day one and to play a vital part in realizing the editorial vision of the website. Based in Tunis, the role will include travel in the MENA region and in Europe – zenith’s main office is in Berlin.

In this position you’ll be responsible for the daily running of the website, including editorial planning, commissioning work from freelancers, and even producing content. You’ll need to have a good appreciation for the stories that will resonate with a regional audience, and a firm understanding of the cultural context; an existing network of regional contacts and freelancers to draw on would be helpful. The website will need to regularly produce video content, so experience producing or commissioning video would be beneficial. Meanwhile, strong editing skills, an eye for detail and knowledge of publishing conventions are a prerequisite, since final responsibility for quality control will lie with you. Good management and communication skills are also essential, as you’ll be working in tandem with the English and German production teams.

The position will be located in Tunis, Tunisia. Expressions of interest from across MENA and Europe are also welcomed. This is a contact position with immediate start until the end of 2016, with potential for the contact to be extended in 2017 and onwards.
