Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Senior Operations Officer and the direct supervision and guidance of the Public Information Officer, the Public Information Consultant will be responsible for IOM Libya’s social media channels in Arabic and English, outreach to relevant stakeholders and overall support the communication unit.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Libya is issuing a request for CVs/expression of interest in order to obtain applications to fill the position of “Public Information Consultant” in its temporary office in Tunis, Tunisia.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Ensure daily social media outreach and engagement by producing, updating and enhancing IOM Libya’s social media channels, currently Twitter and Facebook, in Arabic and English
  • Assist in drafting public information material for IOM’s weekly, bi-weekly and monthly reports, press briefing notes and website
  • Identify and strengthening links with relevant national and international media channels (includes newspapers, magazines, radio, television and the Internet platforms)
  • Identify the target audiences and the best means to reach them in order to maximize the mission’s external communication in general and information campaign’s impact in particular
  • Identify any further relevant media/communications opportunities to promote IOM Libya’s work
  • Ensure consistent visibility of IOM Libya’s activities
  • Ensure donor visibility in line with donor guidelines
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned

 

شروط الترشّح

  • Advanced degree from an accredited academic institution in a field of study related to migration or other relevant social sciences (e.g. humanitarian affairs, development studies, political science, communication, international relations or a related field), or the equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related area.
  • Five years of professional experience in social media, prior work experience with an international organization is an asset.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic. Working knowledge of French is an asset
  • •Strong and demonstrable interest in migration and/or humanitarian issues
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills in both Arabic and English
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint,
  • Good knowledge of information technology and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and SharePoint.
  • An eye for detail and the ability to prepare clear and concise reports
  • Strong creative and strategic thinking
  • Technological awareness of relevant graphical design tools
  • Ability to work independently in a multi-task and multi-deadline environment
  • Excellent ability to prioritize tasks and strong organizational skills
  • Takes responsibility and manages constructive criticism; personal commitment
  • Works effectively with all clients and stakeholders
