Algeria/Morocco-WS Volunteer

We are looking for a volunteer in the Algeria/Morocco-WS team for 3-4 days per week for a minimum of 3 months.

The successful volunteer/intern would be expected to carry out the following tasks:

1. Press monitoring: We monitor the news on the internet on a daily basis. Relevant articles are then filed electronically into databases and particularly important news items forwarded to the team by email. The volunteer will be assisting in monitoring Arabic, French and English media, and filing accordingly;
2. Assisting with campaigning: The volunteer will have the opportunity to contribute to short campaigning documents, as well as develop and promote our work on digital platforms;
3. Assisting with research: As appropriate, the volunteer may carry out desk secondary research under the supervision of the team;
4. Assisting with case management: The volunteer will work along with the research and campaign assistant on developing a process to manage incoming cases and queries received on the team email address;
5. Translating: The volunteer may be asked occasionally to translate short documents when needed;
6. Assisting with administrative tasks: The volunteer would occasionally assist with tasks like updating mailing lists, taking minutes, and organizing meetings.

Volunteering in one of the world’s leading human rights organisations can provide valuable experience and following your successful volunteer placement, you may request to receive references. However, please note that volunteering does not lead directly to employment with Amnesty International.

Volunteering is unpaid, although travel and lunch expenses are provided. We are able to offer only very limited advice in terms of finding accommodation and Volunteers are responsible for arranging their own visa/work permit where required.
