The UN agency for Migration – IOM Tunisia is looking for a Communication and Public Information Assistant according to the terms of reference stipulated below.
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Position Title: Communication and Public Information Assistant
Duty Station: Zarzis, Tunisia

Type of Appointment: All inclusive; 6 months, with the possibility of extension.

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
In particular he/she will:
- Conduct a mapping of on-going projects related to awareness raising on irregular migration risks but also related to positive alternatives, aiming at creating synergies with the information campaign;
- Ensure effective implementation of outreach activities in Tunisia;
- Identify the target audiences and the best means to reach the migrants in order to maximize the campaign’s impact;
- Carry out a media stakeholder analysis to identify relevant media partners including press, radio and TV and evaluate media buying/broadcasting costs;
- Review and field test the awareness raising products developed within the information campaign, including visibility material, Radio/TV spots and social media spots, selecting key messages and materials according to the specific migratory context in Tunisia;
- Plan and implement dissemination activities in target communities building upon a network of local CSOs and youth associations;
- Evaluate the means and costs for possible video/audio testimonies to be carried out in Tunisia;
- Ensure liaison between IOM Tunis, IOM Rome as well as the governmental and nongovernmental stakeholders in Tunisia, to facilitate the dissemination of the info campaign message;
- Feed the content of the “Aware migrants” website/social media pages in close coordination with IOM Rome, providing regular updates, news and legal information;
- Closely monitor the implementation of the outreach campaign, identify constraints and advise on possible implementation delays or hindrances to the full achievement of the project’s goals;
- Support in the organization of meetings and events related to the information campaign;
- Ensure that the planned outreach activities are in line with IOM’s media and visibility guidelines;
- Prepare internal regular updates, specific briefings covering the project’s activities and elaborate a final report on activities conducted, achievements and lessons learnt;
- Support IOM in all public information activities, including the draft of press briefing notes (PBN) in coordination with the relevant project staff and their further dissemination among national Media.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by COM.
