Background:

The Youth Development Project is an initiative of the local Tunisian association Nour al Hayet (NAH) in partnership with the German INGO Vision Hope International (VHI) which started in September 2016. The projec is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in Germany. The Association of Cooperation in Tunisia (ACT) is mentoring the implementation of NAH in Tunisia. The project region is Great Tunis, which consists of four administrative districts; Ariana, Ben Arous, Mannouba and Tunis City.

The goal of the project is to improve the social and economic situation of disadvantaged youth (15-20 years) in the target area by promoting an inclusive society.  To achieve this goal the following activities will be established:

1. Youth Development Program (YDP); 700 Youth (age 15-20 years old) participate in a Life and Employability Skills Program

2. Civil Society Events (CSE); 140 small civil society events implemented by youth

3. Educators Development Program; 30 educator from local associations will be trained in experiential learning approaches
4. Entrepreneurship Program;  25 youth are granted a micro credit/business plan.

These activities are implemented by NAH in cooperation with 5 to 10 local Community Based organizations (CBOs) like youth associations, youth/cultural centers, schools, etc. To manage and supervise the implementation of the project NAH is looking for a Project Manager.

 Purpose

Within the Youth Empowerment Project, the Project Manager carries responsibilities to establish and implement all project activities. The Project Manager will work under the supervision of VHI and ACT.

Tasks of Project Manager

• General coordination of project activities in cooperation (and supervision of) project assistant and project accountant
• Cooperating and supporting in selecting the project area and target group for the YDP;
• Recruiting and Supervising of Youth Trainers for Youth Development Program (YDP);
• Preparing, implementing and evaluating the YDP in cooperation with Youth Trainers and local partner organizations (youth centers, schools, etc.);
• Supporting Youth Trainers in the establishment of the Civil Society Events;
• Discuss and report on project progress through regular contact with the board of NAH, VHI and ACT.

Results to be achieved by the Project Manager

• Successful project implementation
• Strong cooperation and participating of local partners (CBOs) and beneficiaries in project activities

Location and duration

The Project Manager will be stationed at NAH’s head office. For implementation of some project activities (e.g. training, selecting project area, graduation projects, etc.) there will be a need for the Project Manager to make regular field visits

The duration for the tasks is a period of 18 months from the 1^st of March 2017 until September 2018.

Reporting

The Project Manager reports on a monthly base to the board of NAH, VHI and ACT. All project related work activities must be documented.
