Notice of Funding Opportunity: Sharing Underutilized Resources with Fishers and Farmers (SURF)
The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Office of Assistance Coordination and the United States Embassy in Tunisia announce a $7 million Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to improve the capacity of Tunisian farmers, fishers, agriculture and fishery firms, and cooperatives to adapt to climate change. The project promotes the use of climate and data science to spur innovations by working with the private sector, government-run educational institutions, small famers and fishers, and other key stakeholders.
The project will assist small farmers and fishers to improve their efficiency by accessing new resources and technologies through partnerships with U.S. research institutions to develop, fund, and deploy local climate smart technologies and innovations.
Applications will be accepted only from organizations and institutions who have previously operated in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region and can demonstrate the ability to engage with the Government of Tunisia and to work on similar projects focused on climate change, especially related to the agricultural sector and land and marine conservation.
The deadline to apply for this opportunity is June 30, 2022 at 17:00 EDT. The announcement is available on SAMS Domestic.
All questions must be submitted in writing to nea-grants@state.gov before June 10, 2022
