Project Background
NRGI recognizes that social movements and contentious politics are revealing of deep-seated grievances that CSOs and more peaceful means failed to highlight and address. Funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDF), this project aims to support a peaceful democratic transition in Tunisia by bridging the gap between the government and marginalized oil-producing communities of Tataouine and Kebili and seeks to empower local CSOs to adequately represent local community demands while holding the government accountable, therefore promoting sustainable and constructive dialogue. To do so, NRGI will build on its current partnerships and programming in Tunisia to form and improve the capacity of core networks of CSO actors in Tataouine and Kebili to undertake an effective mediating role between local communities and street-level activists and the government.
Purpose of the Call
Capacity Building component is one of the core pillars of this project. Through a series of training workshops, NRGI aims to foster the skills and knowledge ofCSOs to improve their operational standards and efficiencyto fulfil a mediating role between government and street-level demands in marginalized oil-producing communities.
NRGI is looking for an experienced networking and coalition-building experts to lead two workshops that will cover the principles of network formation, as well as practical considerations such as coordination mechanisms between various members, roles and responsibilities, and action plan establishment.
