PA-Elections Program Assistant

Context:

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking candidates for the position of an Elections Program Assistant (PA) for a duration of one year, based on the availability of funding, starting in January 2020. Position is based in Tunis.

The Elections program supports Tunisian civil society’s efforts to monitor electoral processes and issue recommendations that contribute to greater electoral integrity.

The PA will assist with the general implementation of the program, mainly through providing administrative and logistical support, and will make technical contributions when needed.

More specifically, under close supervision of the program’s managers, the PA will:

  • Provide the administrative and logistical support necessary for the successful organization of program activities (such as trainings, consultations, meetings, field visits, election observation,…);
  • Produce narrative reports on program activities and fulfill other activity reporting requirements;
  • Contribute to monitoring and evaluation by collecting and collating project data, in close coordination with civil society partners;
  • Assist with delivery of technical assistance to civil society partners, where relevant;
  • Monitor civil society partners’ completion of project activities and sending
  • Provide written translation of project documents (between English, French and Arabic);
  • Conduct research to support program implementation;
  • Deliver written and verbal political and electoral analysis;
  • Support all other tasks that contribute to the program; and,
  • Participate in strategic discussions and work-planning.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Master’s degree or law degree an asset
  • At least two years of relevant experience in program administration, with preference for previous exposure to management of international development projects
  • Familiarity with Tunisian electoral processes, civil society organizations, and the national political landscape
  • Prior experience with election observation, advocacy, and/or civil society organizations preferred
  • Excellent and demonstrated organizational skills;
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in oral and written French, English and Arabic; Ability to draft quality written reports in English
  • Neither a member nor a supporter of a political group, and has the capacity to work within a multiparty setting
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office, as well as familiarity with Google online applications
  • Ability to travel extensively within Tunisia and flexibility in terms of unusual working hours (weekends + holidays)
