In response to its enhanced mandates to provide technical assistance related to combating terrorism, organized crime, corruption and drugs, UNODC continues to deliver technical assistance to requesting States.
This position is located at the UNODC Regional Office for Middle East and North Africa (ROMENA), at its Programme Office in Tunis, Tunisia.
The Head of Office located in UNODC Programme Office in Tunisia will be the first reporting officer and technical advice and support will be sought from the relevant units in UNODC Regional Office in Cairo.
III. Purpose of the assignment
The Administrative Officer works in close collaboration with the Head of Office, Training Officer, and Associate Research Officer, and will support the implementation of the UNODC different projects in Tunisia.
The Administrative Officer is expected to exercise full compliance with UNODC rules, regulations, policies and strategies, as well as implementation of the effective internal control systems.
This will include the below tasks:

Procurement:
• Organize and oversee the procurement of goods and services pertaining to project activities across the MENA region and ensure adherence to UN procurement regulations and financial rules;
• Coordinate the development of annual procurement plans for all project activities across the MENA region.
Staffing:
• Update online staffing tables and follow up on staff payments;
• Supervise the daily work of project assistants and project associates under the projects and provide operational guidance;
• Carry out any other tasks as required.
Professionalism: Has knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to transnational organized crime, criminal justice, and cybercrime. Has knowledge of policies and best practices related to crime prevention and terrorism prevention efforts at national, regional and international levels. Has knowledge of policies and practices in the mandates of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. Has very good research and analytical skills. Is able to identify issues, analyze and participate in the resolution of issues/problems. Is able to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities. Shows pride in work and in achievements; demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results; is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns; shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations.
