Job Description

Position Title: Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Intern
Reports to: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer
Location : Tunis, Tunisia
Date : 1 May 2026

  1. Context

WWF is one of the world’s largest biodiversity conservation organizations, dedicated to halting environmental degradation and building a future where people live in harmony with nature. WWF has been operating in Tunisia since 1994 and currently has established offices in Tunisia (WWF North Africa, WWF NA). The organization implements its conservation program across the North Africa region, working to protect natural ecosystems and wildlife, promote sustainable living, support policymakers, engage citizens in reducing their ecological footprint, and contribute to environmental education for youth.

The Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) function is at the heart of WWF North Africa’s ability to demonstrate impact and ensure continuous learning across its portfolio. The M&E Officer carries office-wide responsibilities spanning the strategy level, the programme level, and the project level – including the digitalization of the organizational strategy within the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PMEL) system.

Given the growing number of projects and the associated M&E requirements at the project level, WWF North Africa is recruiting an M&E Intern to provide dedicated support to the M&E Officer, with a primary focus on project-level M&E activities.

  1. Major Functions

The M&E Intern supports the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities across WWF North Africa’s project portfolio. Under the direct supervision of the M&E Officer, the intern contributes to data collection, management, analysis, and reporting tasks at the project level, and provides support for the PMEL system and strategy digitalization processes. The intern works in close coordination with project managers and programme staff.

  1. Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of M&E plans for individual projects in line with donor requirements and WWF standards.
  • Track project-level indicators and maintain up-to-date indicator tracking sheets for all assigned projects.
  • Compile, clean, and organize project data received from field teams and project staff on a regular basis.

  • Assist in developing and revising data collection instruments (surveys, monitoring forms, field checklists) tailored to specific project needs.
  • Maintain and regularly update project M&E databases and tracking spreadsheets.
  • Perform basic quantitative and qualitative data analysis to support project monitoring and reporting.
  • Prepare data visualization outputs (charts, graphs, summary tables) for use in reports, presentations, and internal dashboards.
  • Support the M&E Officer in data entry and quality checks within the PMEL system.

  1. Required Qualifications

Education

  • University degree (Master’s degree is a plus) in a relevant field such as Environmental Sciences, Data management, Data science, Computer Science, Development Studies, Statistics, or a related discipline.

Skills

  • Basic understanding of monitoring and evaluation concepts, logical frameworks, and results-based management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data entry, analysis, and visualization.
  • Basic knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Alignment with WWF’s core values: Courage, Integrity, Respect, and Collaboration.

Languages

  • Fluency in French and English is required. Arabic is a strong asset.
  1. Internship Duration

The internship is offered for a duration of one year, commencing on May 1, 2026.

  1. Application Process

Applications must include a motivation letter and CV and should be sent via email before April 21 to na.contact@wwfna.org with the subject line: “M&E Intern”.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. WWF NA is committed to an equal opportunity recruitment process.
