About MEF

 

The Maghreb Economic Forum (MEF), is a Think-and-Do Tank, founded in 2011 on the premise of supporting an inclusive and sustainable society and economy in the Maghreb as well as nurturing and inspiring a new generation of responsible leaders across the MENA region. MEF is a non-profit, independent and non-partisan organization. Its mission is to convene, connect and catalyze leaders and institutions around MEF’s three programmatic areas: Employment, Education and Leadership.

Job Description: Executive Director

The Maghreb Economic Forum (MEF) is seeking an experienced Executive Director reporting to its Board of Directors and building upon the strength on its multi-disciplinary team and diversity of partnerships to continue to advance the MEF mission: “convening, connecting and catalyzing leaders and institutions around three programmatic areas: Employment, Education and Leadership in the Maghreb & MENA Region”. As such, the Executive Director will be responsible for the implementation of the board strategic directions, further developing the capacity of the organization, overseeing and developing impactful projects of varying size and complexity and effectively communicating on its impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of MEF’s strategic plans and oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs, special projects and services
  • Support the Board with the ongoing development and refinement of the strategic vision and directions of the MEF
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and partnership with MEF’s stakeholders and continue to raise its profile in Tunisia, the region and internationally.
  • Ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the organization
  • Develop budgets and financial plans working closely with the Finance officer, the team and MEF’s Board.
  • Manage the team effectively and build capacity overtime in order to meet MEF’s growing programmatic and organizational needs.
  • Lead fundraising activities working closely with members of the Board and the Director of Development and External Relations
  • Ensure that sound accounting and quality assurance procedures are in place and are being followed in line with the expectations of the donors, the Board and key stakeholders.
  • Reinforce existing partnerships and develop new ones to support the MEF’s mission and further grow its impact

Ensure quality reporting and communication on MEF’s vision, mission and activities

شروط الترشّح

  • Bachelor degree required, advanced degree preferred.
  • 5 or more years of relevant professional experience preferably in the civil society sector, education, leadership, and/or socio-economic development
  • Executive level management and leadership required
  • Policy and/or research expertise preferred
  • Fundraising experience required
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Experience building and growing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, cultivate and manage partnerships
  • Comfortable working in a diverse, multi-cultural and fast-paced environment
  • An entrepreneurial approach to funding and projects development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French and in Arabic (preferred).
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Commitment to MEF’s mission
