Job Description
Purpose of the position:
- Provide outpatient medical care to all in-scope patients according to adapted knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patient’s health conditions
Accountabilities:
- Provide gynaecology and obstetrics support to the project especially gynaecological care for high risk cases complicated cases and OB/Gyn emergencies. Also, provide training and guidance to all team members
- Provide support to triage, intake and emergency units regarding diagnosed pregnant women for early enrolment in care. When necessary technical support is provided for in-scope status determination, external referrals of OB/Gun and emergency follow-ups.
Context specific Tasks:
- Treat all the patients with the maximum respect, independently from race, origin, religious or political belonging.
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to examine, assess, diagnose, and treat outpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting the MSF protocols
- Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment plan and to make sure that they have fully understood the dosage of medications and special instructions
- Directly participate in emergencies and being on call if needed.
- Offer basic PFA to all patients and patients’ safety check and communicates outcome to psychology, social workers for more comprehensive care
- Work in the clinic as a team with other medical providers as well as non-medical staff to ensure a better more efficient patient workflow necessary
- Refer patients to appropriate areas of specialties in medicine if needed
- Coordinate with the MD Supervisor and Medical case Management Unit regarding any special cases that need to be referred outside the clinic
- Follow up on patients who are admitted to our referral hospitals if they require admissions like surgery, communicate with the attending physician regarding the patients’ case and try to have discharge prescriptions that are under MSF standard list
- Actively participate in the multidisciplinary team to optimize the quality of care, as well as participate in training sessions that will update the medical knowledge and skills to be better equipped in managing specialized cases
- Train and support both physicians and nurse/midwifery staff.
- Ensure that all MSF medical protocols and universal precautions are followed and implemented.
- Participate in the development of SOP, medical protocols when requested
- Respect and follow infection control measures of MSF
- Follow MSF Clinical guidelines and prescribe medication according to the approved MSF standard list and to be able to medically justify any diversion from the protocols and standard list. Make sure that all appropriate documents are filled up correctly.
- Always guarantee patient-doctor confidentiality and ensure that the medical team does the same
- Convey the necessary information for medical advocacy on the behalf of the patient
- Actively participate in the provision of medical report for patient when necessary
- Present case studies in the clinic on a regular basis to share medical knowledge and to analyze data to improve patient care and quality control
- Participate in different meetings held by the medical team, other departments or by the project management team.
Job Requirements:
Educational qualifications:
- OB/Gyn. MD degree + the membership of Tunisian board certificate with minimum of 2 years’ experience
- Competency with ultrasonography equipment
- Competency in family planning counselling and related interventions such as IUD and contraceptive implants insertion
- Basic outpatient clinic management of OB/Gyn. Emergencies until referral to hospitals
- Experience in SGBV is an asset
- Basic competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
Languages:
- Proficiency in French and English (written and spoken) is mandatory
