Background
The Munathara Initiative is a registered non-profit organization founded in 2012 with offices in Washington D.C., Tunisia, Lebanon, and Morocco. The Initiative works to provide everyone in the Arabic-speaking world with a voice, regardless of age, gender, or background, creating an independent and inclusive discussion and debate platform across the MENA region.
In partnership with the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the GreenTalks project seeks to amplify youth voices on environmental issues. Through three public debate podcasts filmed in inspiring Tunisian locations.
Purpose of the Assignment
The Munathara Initiative is seeking a Media Trainer & Producer to:
- Train project participants in podcast moderation and fact-checking, providing them with practical skills in debate facilitation, interviewing, and verification techniques.
- Produce GreenTalks debates, coordinate guest participation, and ensure smooth episode execution.
Total 5 days of work
The deliverables will include:
- Two (2) training workshops for project partners: one on Podcast Moderation and one on Fact-Checking.
- Three (3) fully produced radio episodes, aligned with GreenTalks’ themes.
- A training report documenting content, outcomes, and recommendations.
Responsibilities
Media Trainer
- Deliver two workshops:
- Podcast Moderation: debate facilitation, voice control, engagement techniques.
- Fact-Checking: verification tools, methodologies, and practical exercises.
- Introduce journalistic ethics and professional standards.
- Provide participants with hands-on practice in debate presentation, interviewing, and podcast hosting.
- Review participants’ outputs and provide feedback.
- Draft a training report summarizing methods, results, and recommendations.
Producer
- Produce three GreenTalks radio episodes.
- Research and prepare scripts, briefing notes, and background materials.
- Coordinate with guests, youth participants, and moderators to ensure smooth execution.
- Manage on-site production logistics and post-production workflows.
- Ensure alignment with Munathara’s editorial standards and environmental themes.
- Report progress to the project coordinator.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in journalism, communications, media production, or related fields.
- 10+ years of professional media experience, preferably in radio or podcasting.
- Strong expertise in fact-checking, storytelling, and environmental journalism.
- Proven experience in media production, debate shows, or podcasts.
- Excellent facilitation, public speaking, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with youth and civic engagement projects is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills in Arabic; English/French proficiency is an asset.
Deliverables
- 2 workshops delivered (Podcast Moderation + Fact-Checking).
- 3 fully produced GreenTalks episodes.
- Training report.
