ABOUT THE ROLE
The MENA Media Programme Assistant will contribute to ARTICLE 19’s work in the MENA region to promote and protect media freedom, media pluralism and diversity, in an increasingly converged media environment, in line with ARTICLE 19’s policies and strategy.
He/ She will monitor the legislative, practical frameworks and judiciary developments relating to freedom of expression, freedom of the media in the main priority countries of the MENA region and propose the appropriate responses. Under the supervision of the MENA Civic Space Programme Officer based in Tunis, and with the support of the Media Freedom Programme Team, the post holder will contribute to the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the MENA Media projects.
He/she will identify and develop new contacts and area of work to expand ARTICLE 19’s network in the MENA region and will be responsible for the coordination with MEDIA key stakeholder and partners at the national and regional levels.
He / She will contribute to theproper implementation of Media activities, such as researches and studies, seminars, training and workshops.
He / She will be expected to write concept notes, develop reports for internal use and for donors, and contribute to communication and fundraising.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the development and design of the strategic planning of projects and activities under the MEDIA program in the MENA region;
- Monitor the legislative, practical frameworks and judiciary developments relating to freedom of expression, freedom of the media in the main priority countries of the MENA region and propose the appropriate responses;
- Participate in the design of new activities and projects, in accordance with the MENA Media strategy of ARTICLE 19;
- Ensure the necessary coordination and manage the implementation of the activities of the Media Program in order to materialize the deliverables and results of the projects of this program;
- Ensure the proper organization of workshops, training, meetings and seminars within the framework of the MEDIA projects; including identification and invitation of participants, the management of the activities’ logistics in coordination with the Office Assistant, writing reports of workshops, trainings and seminars;
- Ensure the proper accomplishmentof activities and deliverables under the MEDIA projects, including the coordination with external consultants and service providers to ensure quality deliverables in accordance with respective ToRs, requirements and specifications;
- Ensure the appropriate monitoring and documentation of the results of the Media Programme, projects and activities;
- Ensure collaborative relations with partners, target groups and beneficiaries of MEDIA projects;
- Identify and develop new contacts and area of work to expandARTICLE 19’s network in the MENA region within the framework of the MEDIA programme;
- Participate in producing narrative and financial reports relating to the Media program for the international office or for donors;
- Contribute to the development of new funding proposals in coordination with MENA team and with the support of the fundraising team;
- Contribute to the drafting of reports and other ARTICLE 19 documents and materials, including for the MENA regional website;
- Collect and keep documents relating to the activities and projects of the organization’s MEDIA program;
- Perform other duties related to the role that can reasonably be assigned by the line manager
