Objectives of the program:

The objective of the Administration and Finance Department (DAF) is to optimize the implementation of WHO’s global health mandate through establishment and monitoring of effective and responsible management, administration and supportive policies, systems and services and to promote a collaborative working environment and ensure prompt financial, Programme implementation and monitoring and efficient distribution of resources in support of WHO’s leadership role in international health.

The Administrative Services Unit, under DAF also ensures adequate support to EMRO Programmes, and manages and supports the delivery of meetings and trainings facilities and services for EMRO.

Purpose of the position:

To provide IT support to the EMR approved meetings and training workshops to be organized in Tunisia, as well as supervise the installation, maintenance and proper use of ICT resources in support for meetings and events, and for the proper delivery of IT services in WRO/TUN.

Organizational context:

The incumbent is the focal point for all ITT activities, work is performed in a normal office environment to ensure an operational IT environment in WRO/TUN and conducted meetings that is robust, available, monitored, reliable, flexible, well-performing, industry-standard, and stays ahead of the capacity demands of clients. General instructions are provided to the incumbent in the form of correspondence standards, administrative rules, microcomputer operating standards, filing systems and accepted secretarial practices, and the incumbent works within the framework of WHO and the department rules and procedures, and/or specific instructions. Work is reviewed by the Administrative Services Officer (ASO) for meeting expectations and overall quality.

This role requires frequent and continuous interaction with Regional Office (ASU and ITT).

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL: Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Services Officer (ASO) and guidance from the ITT unit in DAF department, the incumbent is responsible for, but not limited to:

Network and Hardware:

To monitor and maintain local servers LAN and e-mail system including creating and modifying accounts.

To administer and maintain disk storage backups.

To ensure that printers and photocopiers are properly configured and are available via the network. If necessary, to propose new printing solutions.

To configure all WRO/TUN workstations and laptop computers (including those of training participants and facilitators). To assist in the evaluation and follow-up of the needs for new hardware.

Technical support and training:

1-To provide full IT support to meetings and events organized in Tunisia as per ASO directives and instructions.

2-To implement under the guidance of ITT unit in EMRO, specific ITT services needed in WRO/TUN (intranet, IPSEC, Fire Wall, Checkpoint secure client, GSM, GPN, VC etc…).

3-To identify technical problems, to solve them directly or refer as appropriate. To provide assistance (first and second level user support) and simple training on basic computing skills and office software features.

4-To maintain common office software and ensure that virus scanning software is kept up-to-date on all computers.

5-To organize storage and access to software and ensure proper documentation and licensure.

Management:

1-To maintain log files and configuration tables.

2-To maintain contacts with IT suppliers of materials and services.

3-To monitor the stock of computer consumables. Conception/development of IT tools.

4-To perform basic programming tasks such as creating and updating high priority MS Office templates (i.e. forms).

 

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Essential:Completion of secondary education; Training in area of informatics or telecommunication; Formal training on Windows Operating Systems family; Formal training of MS Office Suite
  • Desirable:University degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field is an asset.
  • Experience:
  • Essential: At least 5 years progressive experience in operation of computers, hardware maintenance/trouble-shooting and software support.
  • Desirable: Relevant experience in the UN system.
  • Language: Very good knowledge of English and Arabic language. French is and asset.
