Logistics and operations officer- TUNISIA

 

Position: Logistics and operations officer
Location: Tunis, Tunisia
Application Deadline: 31-03-2024
Duration: 12 months with possibility for extension
Start Date: 01-05-2024

 

Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the Logistics and Operations Officer is a mid-level expert with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. This role is integral to the smooth functioning of the AGILE programme, ensuring effective logistical support and operational efficiency. The Logistics and Operations Officer will oversee and coordinate logistical aspects such as procurement, inventory management, events organization, transport arrangements, and general operations to support the implementation of project activities.

 

The Agri-business and Green Innovation for Local Employment (AGILE) programme is a 4-year initiative funded by the Netherlands embassy in Tunisia. This programme aims to create more, better, and more productive jobs for youth and women in rural areas. AGILE focuses on the development of arboriculture value chains in the Kairouan, Sidi Bouzid, and Kasserine governorates.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

The responsibilities and tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Oversee and manage all logistical aspects of the AGILE programme, including procurement, transport arrangements, and event organization.
    • Coordinate procurement processes, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services in compliance with donor and internal policies.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of goods and services.
    • Organize and coordinate events such as workshops, training sessions, and stakeholder meetings, including venue selection, catering, and logistical support for participants.
    • Ensure efficient transport arrangements for project staff
    • Support the Programme Manager in budget monitoring and forecasting related to logistics and operations.
    • Support in the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with organizational guidelines and best practices.
    • Maintain accurate records of all logistical transactions, including procurement, and event expenses.
    • Provide logistical support for field activities, including field trips, assessments, and project site visits.
    • Contribute to the preparation of reports and documentation related to logistics and operations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant agreements, contracts, and other legal documents related to procurement and logistics.

 

Requirements and Skills

 

  • Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in logistics, operations, and event organization, preferably in donor-funded projects or international organizations.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, and event coordination.
  • Experience in managing logistics for projects, including procurement, transportation, and inventory control.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling logistical and operational tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Experience in budget monitoring and financial management related to logistics and operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with procurement software is an advantage.
  • Fluency in Arabic, French and English is required
  • Willingness to travel to project operation areas in the Kairouan, Sidi Bouzid, and Kasserine governorates.
